"Friends" threw eggs at car, caught them, chipped hood in 3 places - Need Paint help!

Hi,
Some so called friends threw eggs at my car and it chipped the hood in 3 places,
I know, no pics, but it is raining really bad and the camera will get destroyed.
It went down to the white primer/metal.
I always have a lot of wax on my car and actually just waxed it that afternoon.
They say they will pay whatever the cost.
I also have all the records of our conversation on the phone, facebook screenshots and texts.

I caught them in the act.

How should I go about getting the hood repainted.
My car was and still practically is spotless, and now this.
I have all the before and after pictures so they cant worm their way out of it.

Is the A Spec NBP different than other honda NBP?
I noticed that on the door sticker my paint is called type-x?
mean anything?

I guess im going to have to find an oldtimer to paint this right.

first of all get some new friends, thats not cool what they did. take it too a good body shop that has experience and a good reputation, ask them for a quote, and tell them your concerns about the a-spec paint. they should be able to match it.

Yes, thanks man,
they are not really my friends, I just have known them since 3.
there were 5 people 3 guys 2 girls in a 3 seat 2010 ford ranger.

For the record, im no wimp, im on the football/rugby team and go to the gym a lot.
Deciding to do this to me was a really, really dumb move, especially since all my neighbors watch whats going on, and have cameras.
If its going to take 1000$, it will, and i have to deal with lost time and not being able to work while my cars in for paint.

There are some good shops in town, ill talk to an insurance adjuster as well.
I guess they can match the blue fleck, im just upset as it will never be the same again.

ill have to look into / maybe someone knows if the NHB paint code is generic to all hondas, if it is, then it might be a good repair.
especially in the sun with my car you can see the blue.

i know what you mean by never having the car look the same again, its a hard feeling. but you can get it to. well hey, if they are paying for it. go to the dealership and get acura to paint it. they will match it, it will just cost a lot. if you get them to pay for it then go that route.

^ Not necessarily the best route. Even if you can find a dealership that has a paintshop and full-time painters, they may not necessarily be the best. I got my Accord repaired at a shop connected to the dealer (affiliated), and their job wasn't close to perfect.

If I were you, I'd research dedicated paint shops in the area, pick the one with the best feedback, period. You're not paying so price is irrelevant.

Best of luck

paint should be around 350-500. calling insurance is not worth it. take it to a few shops, look around the shop to see what kind of cars their working on and how the shop is set up (dirty, clean, organized, attitude of ppl)

thats interesting, i thought the dealers would just use matched parts, or at least do a good job matching it up.

i got my front bumper replaced from a good local shop, it came out perfect.

Thanks, they are scared of the repercussions of me and the cops/insurance as they have admitted to it.

I just want my car to be fixed.
Its stupid, but part of life and I nor they dont want to get repercussions.

Monday im calling the body shop that we have gone to 3 times and have had success.
I also want to call Acura 1800 about the aspec paint, the local acura dealer + some in vancouver (they have mega dealers), and my local insurance adjusters are really nice to help you get a good person to do the job.
I think they can blend the blue flecks if it came to that so it wont look off in the sun

maybe if the 3 chips arent too big you can go to a detailer and have them touch up paint it then wetsand, and then polish so the chips will be nearly invisible, that way you wont have to worry about matching issues later on down the road. just a suggestion

Ok that's an idea,
I dont think it would work in my case as the chip has gone down to the metal in some places.
Im worried as it looks as if it shifted the paint up.
I am going to get some opinions on what to do and what my paint code is with my car.

Go down to your car and check the door jamb for the paint code. That'll tell you if it's the same paint as regular NBP. I think the paint code is something like NH6BP or something. And post pics of the damage, even if it's gone down to the metal, it's still repairable. I've got hundreds of rock chips that are down to metal.

Sound good, i will go check.
Its part of life, there are a holes in parking lots too.
I feel im being verry fair, calm and collected.
On Monday i call the dealers and the body shop ive been to.
They've done 3 jobs so far for us and have done a great job.

They just came to look at the damage, they agree, they will pay for it as both of us dont want there to be forced payments involved.

Painted or unpainted?

Unpainted will seem ricey to some, but I find it acceptable on a black car. It'll make your car a theft magnet. A painted CF hood is 100% cool. But also f'ing expensive.

That's my worry, i think repaint is good.
Some ahole in a parking lot might get key happy when now the car kind of ether attracts attention/blends in.
Painted CF in my opinion defeats the purpose.

If you're looking for only the cosmetic benefit of a CF hood, an overlay would better suit your needs, and you could escape the repaint as well.

damn those must have been some hard ass eggs to actually chip the paint... good luck with this.

carbon fiber overlay on hood would look eh IMO especially since you have a pretty clean a-spec. unless ur going for a CF theme.

The only reason to go for a carbon fiber hood is weight reduction. Why would you deal with fitment issues if you want to go for the "Look"? Don't rice up an A-Spec.

Also, I wouldn't be as worried about the paint chips as I would be about the egg yoke eventually leading to clear coat failure.

It's just an option if you want the look of CF.

I would do this, get the opinion of a good detailer. They will be able to tell you if they can repair it. If they cant ASK them who they would recommend to repair it.

Got a quote.

1200$ - from an honest place, the dealers and insurance only trust them for big jobs.

It will have to be blended into the fender.
Right away the guy said eggs.
It lifted the paint under it.
Its all going to peel they said.

I would only trust the place im going to.
The dealers go to them when there new cars get damaged.

No more carbon fiber.

A really good paint shop won't have to blend the paint into the fender, but shops that can do a good job without blending are very hard to find.

Best of luck, and hope everything goes smoothly.

One side they say they don't have room to blend only the hood - so they go into the fender.
The other side they can go to the edge of the raised hood area.
He might just do the other fender as well in case the old paint fades over time so it looks even.
