foglight question

Has anyone messed with the frame behind the fog light opening? Is the only thing causing foglights to stick out, the thin piece of metal that juts out of the frame of the car? If so, how much of this metal can you safely cut off without hurting the integrity of the car?

I could have sworn I've seen instructions somewhere on this forum describing the installation of fogs (from the V6 version of the 2001 Accord?) in the bumper of a pre-2001 TL. I believe it involved the removal of metal in order to accomodate the lamps. Do a search and you may get the right posting.

Good luck, you're braver than I am ... I can't bring myself to cut away any part of my car!

I've used cut-off grounding disc.
There isn't too much room behind the fake fog hole. I'll say about 2~3 inch. So I've cut about 3" more.
