fogged headlights?
fogged headlights?
this might be the stoopidest question but i still have to ask.... i juss got my headlights cleared from someone.... juss took my car for a carwash and it seems like theres a slight fog in it.... or maybe its jus my eyes or even reflections... wen they fog... do they fog up tremendously? or a tad? or even because its -2 degrees in nyc.... is there a way i can "do it myself" kinda thing to see if it actually fogs? like poor cold/hot water on it? please help!
Well, boiling water would help but it'll be kinda hard where you are.
DIY fix is easy, Take bumper off, Unscrew the headlights (unplug cables, DUH), and reaply another layer of that silicone sealant...OR, take the car back to this "someone" and have him do it.
In any case this wont harm your headlight

Since you did somewhat observe some fogging when you were washing your car, chances are.... it isn't sealed correctly. I suggest you redo it avoid any chance of blowing your HIDs.
My headlight fogged up very slighty and started to get worse after awhile.... so i had to re do them.
you should take care of it asap... https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...light=moisture

umm.. i couldve done it for you. i did it on mine and a few other cars. i did it properly and there is no sign of moisture inside the lamps at all. i did this about two weeks ago and still good. my friends' cars are all still in good shape too. after i sealed it tightly, i went over the sealant again with another layer just to protect it better. then with a knife i shaved off the excess sealant so it wouldnt leave this ugly goo sticking out from all around the lamps

I think my neighbors still cal me "That guy that uses a hair dryer in his engine bay"
Again, while this won't address the problem of a strong seal, it's a good way to get the moisture out.
Good luck!
Joe
He just suggested I leave the bulbs out for a little, the high beams since it is easier, then wait for a while.. bit it back in and then it should be good. I havent had problems since but he said if I did I could just bring it back to him.
