Fog Lights with Highbeams
I know this was mentioned in a few other posts, but has anyone successfully acomplished the task of being able to run their fog lights while the highbeams are switched on?
I would really like to be able to do this as I want to convert my highbeams into JDM yellow DRLs.
Becasue the highbeams kill the abilty to use my fogs, I am unable to go forward with my highbeam modifications.
I'm no stranger with cars and how to work on them, but if someone already figured this out I really don't want to waste time trying to figure it out.
I currently have the first fog light modification done in my TL, (Just splicing wires together to fool the system into thinking the headlights are running when in actuality it's just the parking lights) but someone did mention that if you use the fog light modification alternative (Using the add-a-circuit with a diode so that the fog lights switch on so long as the keys are in the ignition) then the fog lights run while the highbeams are switched on.
Is this true? Has anyone tried this and verified it? Please let me know ASAP. Thank you everyone here very much for all the help with my TL and future help you will most likely provide.

on the street its illegal to run fogs ON with Highs on- thats why they are wired to the lows in all usa cars..expect extra Police attention
if you wanted to experiement for ~show car~
take the hot for the fogs and put it on a seperate switch
on gen2 you'll have to figure out a way around the low HID lights as (at least my 01) stay on at all times and the highs are just halogen bulbs that come on in addition to the lows
You can run fresh hot wires to switches like a race car dash has, control of each system

After cutting off the highbeams, did you use a relay with switch from the battery? Where can I get a DRL kit, which one did you use? Your car is hands down the sexcist black TL. Thanks in advance!
The law part I'm not worried about, I have my connects to get out of just about any traffic stop minus DUI/DWI here in NYC.
I have a smartsiren SS2000 with PA the same as the NYPD, Whelen strobes wired in with the SS2000 in my turn signals front and rear, and in the inner break lights, 20% tint all around, and quad performace exhausts. I doubt the Highbeam+Fogs will add anymore extra attention... Lol.

i've seen better tho. haha

Do you think you can give me a quick drawing of what you said? You probably know very well how things go super bad when you make a slight mistake working on our TLs. With hat said, I just want to be very clear before I get the DRL module and start cutting and splicing. If you don't mind, please post it here for everyone or email it to me to punjabisylhety@aol.com and I can post it. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
^ 2 layers. one with your hood open.. one with it closed
crop out the engine with the pic you took with it open.. then just slap it on the one with the closed one.. play with the opacity and stuff

ah, i figured it was something like that, never actually toyed around with it though.
Hey jjasha, I'm thinkin' of runnin' DRL's in my highs...can't I just use it like it's "meant to" be w/o the extra work of disconnecting (and running separate power source) for the real highs???
Added: isn't a DRL just decreased voltage to the bulb, therefore the light coming out of it is dimmer?

i never understood the mystery behind not knowing how to turn the fogs on without any other light..
run the damn fog lights to a power source (ie: radio) and the fog switch will act as a toggle switch.
the same way it would be if you added fogs to a car without them...
