i did the fog light mod(using the do it yourself guide that was provided on this website) to my 2003 acura tl type-s about 9 months ago and lately when i go to only put on my parking lights with my fog lights it does not work. I have to turn the knob from off to only the parking lights several times and then it will only sometimes work.Theres been times that it turns on ok but then it just shuts off? what the hell is wrong with my car please help...thanks

 

I have had mine for almost one year and no problem... although I don't use it on a daily basis. Sometimes I freak myself out when it does not turn on and then I realize the high beams are on so they won't turn on with just the parking lights. :smackhead

 

it may be the connections have loosened over time especially if you spliced and used tape or tap connectors and not solder. i would look at each connection for signs of corrosion also. i dab of di-electric grease is also helpful on the connections.

 

Go back and make securer connections. It seems the wires are not making proper contact or they are lose. The principle behind the fog light mod, is that for the fogs to run, it needs current, and this current was supplied by the headlights. So this is why the fog lights only worked when you had your headlights turned on. With the mod, you spliced the wire with your parking lights, so now when your parking lights are on, the current was beign supplied to your fogs and the fogs turned on. So if your fogs keep dong what you say they are doing, it means that the current is being cut off between the parking light wire and the fog light wire, causing the fog light to shut on and off. Just go back and use a metal connector and crimp to make a more stable conection.

 

Also check the fusebox

 

sounds like a loose connection. I had that with my Infinity Basslink...everytime I hit a bump the bass would turn on, then off, then on...ended up just being the ground wire wasn't connected tightly.

 

so soldering is really the way to go for years and years of fog light mod performance?

 

i think that soldering, if done correctly, lasts alot longer than other methods of joining wires. be sure to cover the soldered connection with shrink tube for protection from the elements.

 

I use mine as DRL's everyday, all the time. I have had no problems after 9 months. I would definately check for a loose wire.

 

I recently did this mod on my tl and it works great, I haven't had any problems. .

i have a 99 tl i wanted to put fog lights on but i need to know which fog light kits is best! can you guys tell me if these are good enough? will these come with every part (wireing) i need to install on my 99 tl?

Check all connection if everything is done right you will have no problems mine was done years ago and still perfect good luck
