hehe..i took the shield out a year ago when I first bought the car. I used a long nose plier and crushed the shield through the bulb's hole and kind of gently bend it back and forth until it breaks off and pull it out. If you do it, be very careful not to scratch the reflective parts. Just take your time and be gentle..you can do it. Yes, the screw will still be in there but almost invisible a feet or so away.

yeah i saw your pics a while ago too randomwalk101 but i didnt feel like breaking open a good fog to take it off, but mine finally cracked so i was able to pull it out along with the screw....so you took it off with just a needle nose huh? you got balls man...haha...but yah you can definalty agree with me that the glare isnt that bad, and the effects helps soooo much more...as the light on the ground immediatly infront of the car is off the charts!!!

No No, he's talking about the metal shield around the bulb itself in the foglight housing. He took/broke it off so the bulb is exposed. He did it when he was replacing the cracked lens. If you look at your foglight and his foglight in the first picture, you'll see that his bulb is "naked" there are no metal parts surrounding it.

yeah just like alexxx said, the way the fog is design it only reflects light from the sides of the bulb, thus making the beam patern flat and wide, with the shield off the beam is still flat and wide but it allows for a little more glare in the space of the ground right infront of the fogs and a little more light in between your fogs and headlight...making for a complete beam coverage on the road....

It get's rid of the metal shield that's around the bulb so figure it out. It won't make the fogs more like driving lights... because they are aimed too low and the light is not concentrated (reflected/projected) into a certain area like the lowbeams....in fact this will increase the glare because a real HID system is usually a reflective or projected.

Take a look at this site as to what I mean by reflection and projection type HID: http://suvlights.tripod.com/suvlight...enon-Bulbs.htm

If you notice the arrows point to cerain areas but in asiankidd's foglight the arrows (light) point everywhere and even though it's not concentrated, the reflective surface of the foglight housing directs the light towards the ground

just more light to the groud directly infront of the car....from outside it make a difference but behind the driver seat its minimal....plus the added looks of the bare bulb is a plus....

What about the sides ? The original fog light pattern has a low but very wide coverage, so even the sides of the roads are well illuminated.

Just noticed that my replacement Fog I ordered from Value doesnt even have this piece, so I guess I need to remove the other one when I replace the busted one to make it even.

Do the JDM TL's not have this piece???

well i only did the mod cus i cracked the lens...and with hid in there its not worth the risk of getting a rock to hit the hid itself, i was lucky that it only cracked the edge
