You don't have to tied them together.
And work perfect.
You can turn your fog light on just with the parking lights on, without the headlights.

Just tap a 12V wire that is on when the key is inserted and on the second position. If you dont want them to shut off when starting the car.... just tap the positive 12V wire that the add-a-circuit that was supposed to plug into.

Bxscig, so with this mod, when you turn the highbeam on the fogs turn off???
if yes, does it turn off only if the fogs are on with the acc? does highbeam turn off if the fogs are on normally (meaning, lowbeams and parking lights on)

Just did this 2 nights ago and this thread showed me exactly how to do this. It actually took me longer to drive around and get the add-a-circuit and diode than it took me to finish. Thanks Bxscig!

This is the fog light switch harness and swtich. I had to undo the original fog light mod and taped up the two wires.
Just another shot
What do you mean in this part? This is the part I'm confused at. What two wires do you tape up?
Please help me out. Thanks.

Close up of how it is crimped together.

This mod lets the fogs work independant of the headlights. If you want just the fogs on with nothing else - this will do that. IF you want NO fogs on all you have to do is turn the switch to off. But if I can figure it out in under 5 min. ANYBODY can - trust me Bxscig did a great job with this! and he was very helpful when I asked a stupid question too!

The fuse panel is located on the side of the dashboard. It's not under the dash, but in the area of the dash that is covered by the door when it is closed. It's under a plastic panel that is labed 'fuse'.

So I finally got all the parts. i made the add a circuit with the diode, turned the correct way. I then got some 10 guage wire and used electrical taped it to the end of the diode and used the tape with white/red wire. I then plugged in the add circuit and I get the above mod to work. Can someone please tell me what's wrong? I even re-did the add circuit just to make sure. I'm thinking its the wire tap and how it's not connected correctly? Any ideas?

Well, let's see. Did you use the blue wire taps to connect everything into the MIDDLE wire on the back of the plug? I know the first time I tried it (I must have been smokin' something ) I managed to get the wrong wire and I lost my gauges and my Transmission went into 'safe' mode because I blew a fuse. other than that make sure the connections are secure, wiggling the wire around by putting things back togther could have seperated something. By the way, you can pull the clock backup fuse on th passenger side fuse panel to reset your CEL if needed. Hope this helps!

For the power, did you use a in-line fuse? You don't want too much going into your switch. Potential of frying the switch or worse.
Was there a reason you did it different?

Well as far as the diode goes - it's a safety precaution. It'll work without one, but the diode keeps the power from back feeding through the circuit. For example, if you used the power from the radio without the diode it could feed power from the foglights back into the radio.

Great DIY! Thanks to Dan (FirePR2002), I now have this great v2.0 Fog Light Mod. This is how I always wanted it but never got around to messing with it. Dan, actually had some parts and made everything for me and he helped me install it today.
During the install, we actually triggered the CEL and SRS lights, but we got that reset so all is good. Thanks again for this great DIY and here are some after pics of my setup and also a pic of the switch showing the lights are off but fog indicator is on (yes, i switched my led to amber instead of the standard green)

^ No.
I read the fog light mod DIY once and became confused very easily. It start off as a thread asking a question, then turns into a DIY.
I even printed it out and showed it to my father, who is very good with electric stuff, and I don't think he understood it either.
