Fog light 55W or 80W or 100W

Fog light 55W or 80W or 100W

I know our Fog is 55W.

Is it dangourous if we put 80/100W bulb?

Yes.

The foglight housing is designed to dissipate 55W worth of heat. If you put in higher powered bulbs, you do so at your own risk.

Will it melt the housing? Cuz at home the lamps i use sometimes say 60 wt max i put 100 wt and its ok

Yes, on a hot day it may well melt the housing.

You put 100W lamps in 60W fixtures, eh? That's not a good idea. Why not buy 100W fixtures instead?

Actually, I just replaced my OEM fogs and the bulbs were labeled 51w.

Yeah, but 9006 bulbs are 55W standard. I think the housing is designed for the generic 55W 9006 bulb.

Besides, a 4W (7%) difference in power output is probably well within the design margins.
