Foam or paper intake filters?

Which give the best performance gains, foam or paper element air filters? I have the stock AEM k&n filter right now but it rubbed against the chassis and has a small hole in it. I was thinking of replacing it with a foam element filter like a weapon R or OBX one. Any knowledge or opinions?
