Flywheel and pressure plate
Flywheel and pressure plate
I figured I'd post this. Years ago I had a flywheel lightened for my nissan. They shaved about 8 lbs off the back with a stepped computerized machining process. They also redressed the face and offered to machine a .010 step where the pressure plate bolts to increase clamp force.
The price was $160 plus shipping. Compared to the aluminum flywheel prices it was a bargain. This was one of there specialities.

That would be all fine and dandy if we had a manual for our cars. All we have is a auto, and our flex plate is already extremly light and nothing would be gained by making that lighter with a 50lb torque converter bolted to it
