Fkn Pissed Off! Help w/ Alignment Please

hey guys, its been a while since ive posted, been busy w/ school n all. Anyways, i went to get my alignment done, and first i went to the dealer and they said that the car was too low to do it. So i said, alright, and went to Les Schwab. I told em that the car is lowered so they go ahead and start, and then before they even get the alignment done, they tell me that i need:

2 Adjustable ball joints
2 adjustable arms
2 Replaced ball joints up/lwr each side -asian rwd
2 alignment labor (cam installation/ spot weld rem including plug ko)
1 Four Wheel alighnment - domestic / import cars

this is all quoted word for word from the qoute

oh yeah, the grand total is $649.75. I got pissed and walked out. now can someone tell me whether this is valid or not? all i want is a simple alignment. thanks guys
what should i do? where should i go?

What type of Springs did you put on and how much of a drop did you get? I don't recall your car getting that low. In any case, they should be able to do an alignment - even if your camber is out of Spec. Tires will wear out faster but they can at least check and adjust the toe. Sounds like someone's trying to bone you.

Plus, how many miles do you have. I would be surprised that both upper and lower ball joints are worn out.

yeah the drop is the H&R Sports, 1.75 in front and like 1.5 in the back. Im gonna take the car to Motorsport Dynamics and see what they say. Yeah the car only has 49k miles on it.

damn! that's super expensive for an alignment...

I took mine to Sears first to get my alignment done..... they did get it on the alignment machine, but scratched the bottom of my car... They told me my camber was off.... i bought rear camber kit and went to another alignment shop that could get my car on the lift without scratching my car.... and everything else worked fine.

alignment cost me $60
camber kit with installation $250....?? forgot
total cost $300 approximiately

try looking for alignment shops that cater to lowered cars. I'm sure they could take care of u

What!!! over 600 bucks! THat's ridiculous. Go to a performance shop and ask where they get their cars alighned at. Usually you have to go to a shop that have the right tools to alighn a lowered car.

I'm sure there are shops that have hyd lifts that wont scratch your tL...but dang 600bux...no way...thats the onlything holding me back to get the 1.75/1.5 H&Rs.

Does anyone know the proper "CHALK" do-it-yourself alignment technique?

tpatel---when you dropped your car, your o2 sensor might have messed up. emissions shouldnt fail for a dropped car..

about the only thing you should need would be a rear camber kit.
