Fixing up the headlights

Well now that the weather is cooperating and I also have some free time, I've begun fixing up some of the parts of the car. Since I bought it used, it has a fair amount of scratches and dings to it that need attention, but nothing too bad.

One of the problems I'm not sure how to attack is with the headlights. Stones over the past 50k miles have done their fair share of damage to the lights. When the lights are on at night, it almost looks like the covers are a little dirty, while in reality, its the light hitting a bunch of really small indentations on the front.

Any suggestions as to how to fix this? I have a few products, but I'm worried about making the headlights look worse.

Thanks!
