FIX seat squeeks for GOOD!!!

GUYS...at first I thought it was the seats..after 2 trips to dealer..it's still no good.... then one day i notice...the sound when i pulled on the seatbelt when it's secured..
when I pulled hard on it left to right...squeeky sound appears..

then I remem someone mentioned using WD40 = lubricant spray on where the seat belt secures in. I sprayed a little into it...the next morning... I tried many ways to pull on it...the squeeky noise is GONE!!!

it's been 1 whole week..and NO SEAT NOISE... guess the dealers doesn't know about this...it's the seatbelt fastener.

Hope this helps to People who complain their seat squeeks..

Thumbs up

Thank God somebody figured it out! I went to the lot to look at a TL-S with NAVI. The only one they had was being taken off of the truck wrapped in plastic from head to toe. It was ABP like I wanted so I test drove a car on the lot and bought it that day. I had under 100 miles before "the squeak" started. Thanks for the simple fix.

yeah the seat belt actually produce more squeaks than the seats. little amount of wd40 will do the trick. if you don't spray a lot of them, which you shouldn't have to, it shouldn't have too bad of an odor.

btw, you will need to redo this around 3 to 4 months later.

WD 40 and Seat Belts

Did you have to spray WD40 on both floor mounted Seat Belt bolts? Left and right side of the seats?

I took my car in yesterday for this. Told the service guy that the driver seatbelt recepticle squeeked/creaked. They replaced the latch assy. I haven't driven enough since I picked up the car to see if it was fixed well. They also added the anti-creak tape to the sunroof opening.

Sunroof Sqeaks

Anti Squeak tape? Never heard of that. I'll have to talk to the Acura dealer when I go in. Is that tape applied to the roof size or the sunroof side of the opening? I've been WD40ing my sunroof seal (black rubber on Sunroof itself) to stop this sqeak. I do it each time I wash the car and it works pretty well, but if there is a permanent fix, I'd love to get it done. How does the tape look once installed?

The tape is adhered to the lip around the inside of the sunroof opening. It is only noticeable to you since you are the only one that knows it is being installed. I took mine in for that and they knew exactly what to do - common problem I assume.

Tape on Sunroof

Cool. I got to get back to the dealer and get that done. Do they do the same thing to the doors. I see the same sound coming from the door seals when they get dirty.

Also, is the tape body color, black or some other color?

Havent had any issues with the door....The tape is clear and about 1/2' wide that goes around the entire inside lip of the sunroof....Works great...

NO..where u INSERT THE METAL INTO THAT LOCK box ONLY....it's the top part of that thing that squeeks.. not the bolt close to the seat

ya...there's 2 major squeeks for our car..

the sun/moonroof....they now have this anti squeek tape at the dealer..

Spray INTO where the red arrow is going into...spray the inside of that..

Hope this helps guys

My noise is really gone.....it's all quiet I think it also makes a difference on the noise level when u LOWER ur car... and also the SIZE of the tires.. like 18, 19, 20 etc..

if u don't want much noise...keep it stock

If it is just that, another solution is to not to fasten your seatbelt.
On mine, the noise does not come from that "inside red arrow".

There is some noise when you push the seat belt receiver front and back. It is the rubber rubbing against the plastic.

I sprayed a lubricant in the seatbelt receptacle and the squeak was gone for 4 or 5 days, but it came back. But, this is ridiculous, why should I have my car smelling like at '71 Nova.

I eventually had Acura replace the whole receptacle and it was the same squeak. I suspected they didn't do anything. It appeared they bent the receptacle hoping the noise would stop. They were full of $hit, they didn't replace it. I called and asked them to order one, I marked the existing one with a pen to make sure they actually replaced it this time. It was replaced this week and now there is no squeak. This is a real issue that has been discussed many times here. I will continue to have the receptacle replaced if it happens again.

That was my case as well. When I had my last oil-change they took my drivers seat out and remounted the seat buckle adding grease around the bolt itself.

Its only been about a week since, but the squeak is gone

Isnt there an airbag sensor in the seatbelt buckle? If so doesnt spraying wd40 prevent it from functioning properly? I wonder if this is why so many seatbelt buckle microswitches have gone bad and caused the red SRS light to come on?

got my sunroof shade rattles fixed yesterday...according to the invoice, they did use "anti-squeak" tape. i actually thought i had a more severe cause of rattles coming from a couple of locations. there is not one rattle now so the shade was to blame.
