Thumbs up First time car owner. 2000 Acura TL. Tips on maintaning my car?

hows it going fellow acura homies,

I just got a 2000 Acura TL yesterday. Got it from the original owner with 125K miles. Gold emblems & everything. I got my license in April, & been driving my parent's 07 Rav4 daily ever since. Now that I got my own car, how can I make it last for quite some time?

Also, what are good radios systems to replace the one I got? Nothing wrong with the wired cassette but a little improvement would be nice. How much are windows tinting?

How does lowering a car work? What are good springs & does 2inches make a difference?

thanks!

Welcome. Looks like it's in pretty good condition. Please make sure all maintenance and recall work is up to date. Transmission takes priority. Was the 105k work done, like timing belt and water pump? Last time all fluids were changed? Was the egr ports cleaned out? Sea foam it as well. You can search on that bit, covered quite a bit.

Pump premium, dont rag the tranny out, seafoam, ngk iridium spark plugs, and you'll be smooth sailing.

The OEM radio is fine, if you want mp3 capability then just either buy a cassette tape to mp3 adapter or buy the blitz safe.

You can get springs but coils would be the best option.

Congrats on the car.

Window tinting can vary in pricing, check your local shops for that. There are different ways to lower a car, you can lower it on springs or you can lower it on coilovers. Do a little more searching and reading on here things will make a lot more sense.

new springs on old shocks is a waste of money
go new or dont go at all
tein are popular and awesome but expensive

read thru the thread titles for more new owner info, and basic things to do
see Official DIY list,,3rd item down main gen2 list
that has egr cleaning etc (not found in maintenance sched but needed every 75kmiles)

call 1 800 382 2238x5 acura care reg as new owner and ask if all recalls are done
also at www.owners.acura.com where you can download a free owner manual
need cars VIN for both those

change atf with new honda dw1
get quality brakes!

take a track day high performance class day.. or several...
before dropping the car or other mods
the TL is a very fast car with a few handling quirks,, learn on track with a race driver as your coach

first thing I bought was a Cusco lower frame cross bar,,best 85 bucks ever!
stiffens chasis in turns

flush your brake fluid every year!!

enjoy acurazine, we are a good group of people, several of which really know their stuff

using search or scroll thru main and subsections performance,,and probs and fixes
will answer most questions
Our diy section covers almost every item you can do at home
from new cabin air filters to axle bearings

again,welcome to the ziner nuts

the stock BOSE radio system has amps at each speaker
unless something is blown,,,,its good to go

My point is learn to drive THIS car without distractions
before it ends up against a tree
Happened to many a good ziner,,,

there are radio options,,depending if you have navigation/gps electronic screen and controls for ac,,or the non navi cars with knobs for ac control
ck out the section on Audio
