3750 for extreme driving conditions like canada up north or snow in winter...

but u r living in the bay area...with the climate there...
changing oil once every 5000miles is possible...

it's not necessary to follow exactly what they said...i usually drive 600 miles more than 3750...coz the oil life has a lot more than 3750 miles...don't drain ur money out of ur pocket for changing oil too often

First oil change should follow Acura's recommendation of 3750. That oil is not designed to be in there for a long period. After you do your initial oil change you can go a little longer between changes depending on your driving style.

Since I use Redline Synthetic... I go about 8k-9k miles between changes. Even after that amount of time the oil isn't that dirty. With a non-synthetic I wouldn't go more then 5k.....

I thought that ACURA wanted the factory oil to stay in a little longer? I did not keep mine in that long when I got my car almost 3yrs ago. It was change at 1,200 miles but I had the car about 4 months. I also did alot of very short driving trips of less than 10 miles per day in stop & go traffic. The car engine was also idle for extended periods of time. It was used then as a school bus. Just went to drop off & pick kid at school & then it was parked. Did this for the first 6 months of ownership. That is also considered extreme driving conditons. Now its parked most of the time or gets 300 to 600 highway miles put on it a week. I generaly get the oil changed every 4 months. I got it changed at the 30,000 mile service that I had done at 22,600 miles around the 1st of July because of the cars age. I got my last oil change done a few weeks ago at 27,758 miles. Thats about 5,000 miles on regular oil with the BGproducts MOA oil additive that ACURA puts in at 12 to 15,000 mile service intervals. So I get 3 oil changes per year.

Not sure... both the manual and my dealer said to do the first oil change at 3750. I tend to not believe dealers... however, since the manual indicated the same thing I assumed they were telling the truth. I actually didn't get to my first one until 4200 miles.....

reallie depends on the weather...
bay area never have snow and warm...so he can change with 4000-5000 miles...as long as the oil doesn't dried up...

the oil and the cars today are better built...no need to change too often and follow what they say...

also if u run hwy a lot then the oil life is longer too~

My Acura is mostly a highway runner too, although I do like to go above 4Krpms. The milege is about 4600, I'm going in to Park Avenue next thursday for an oil change and I'm going to ask them to inspect the transmission fluid. If its burnt then I will do a full flush then get a cooler. Oh and I have my TL-S since Feb. '02
