Finding a comfortable driving position for a taller driver

I am 6'2" and have a problem with finding a comfortable driving position in 2003 TL-S.

In order not to touch the ceiling with my hair, I need to tilt the seat-back a little bit. But this means that the upper body becomes more distant from the dash board than the lower body. When I move the seat backward, my legs are comfortable, but the steering wheel is too distant. And, when I move the seat forward, the distance of the steering wheel is comfortable, but the legs are cramped.

Does anybody have a similar problem? Is there any way to lower the seat-bottom more? This would solve my problem because I would not need to tilt the seat-back.

I am 6'2 and have the same problem in my 03 TLS- I looked at the infiniti I35 and wasn't sure which car to buy- At this point I am sort of dissapointed I didn't go with it.

The headroom in that car was the deciding factor and I said screw it I will go with the TLS-

I dont think there is anything to do witht the seat- Hold back on the back end of the lumbar control and the back of the seat lowers a little more.

Get a short Haircut- Ha Ha !

I'm 6'4" so you can imagine my situation is even worse. I've learned to live with the more-reclined-than-I'm-used-to driving position. Luckily, my long arms help me not feel like my arms are out straight holding the wheel. A telescoping wheel would do wonders, but alas there is no such thing on the TLs.

I'm 6'4" and I have a 2002 TL-S and I do know what you mean. What I felt that it was a little more important to have a good grip on the wheel than have a ton of room for my legs. It took me a couple of days before I got used to it but now I woldn't have it anyother way. BTW maybe you should try getting a haircut...lol

not so tall driver

I ended up buying a TL-S rather than a TL because the front seats on the TL-S were significantly lower than the TL. I'm only 5'8" but have short legs and a long body but by tilting the seat back I can get a little headroom and can still reach the wheel. The solution is a telescoping adjustment. (no..I am not an orangutang) or perhaps an adjustment in the seat mountings if there is enough clearance under there.

Only had the car for 1000miles but really like it. Easy decision over G35 (cheap interior, odd rear end and snotty salesperson). IS300 and 328i (a little small), Passat VR6 (cramped in the back). Glad I got the TL-S for the power now, just like having a turbo cut in at 3500 rpm. Only car that came close was a Subaru WRX but that was too ugly for my daughter!
