East Hanover cops are freaking @#$holes!
I went out to a Diner to have a bite to eat and a few drinks with my friend who i haven't talked to in 3 years. We also went to pick up a mutual friend of ours (female). Well to make a long story short, I had 2 drinks (vodka&cranberry and a spiked pina colada). They are not that strong to begin with. I wasn't even buzzed. So after I dropped them off I drove home the usual way. I was approaching a light where I had to make a right turn. There is a gas station on my left where I know that the cops hide out. I just so happened to spot two of them hiding in the dark. So I made the right turn and everything. As I was going straight I saw them pulling out the gas station with their lights on. But I didn't do anything wrong. So I slowed down and pulled over to the side to let them thru but they pulled up right behind me. FVCK! Well they asked for the usual stuff. But they also smelled alcohol on me. SHIT, so they asked me how many drinks I had. I told them only one. They didn't believe me so I had to do a sobriety test (1st time doing this). I had to walk a straight line, hold up one foot and count from 30 backwards, and follow the tip of the pen with my eyes only. Needless to say that I passed with flying colors. The funny part was when one of them asked me how old I was. I told them I just turned 27 a few weeks ago. The stupid cop looked to the other cop and asked if 27 was the right age since I was borned in 1974. Duh!!!!!Once again they asked me how many drinks I had. I still stuck with my story with one drink. They then told me to get back in my car. After a few minutes, they came back and asked me one more time how many drinks I had. I still said one. They said I was lying but I said no I wasn't. Then one cop asked me if I drive thru the area a lot. I said yes because I live around here. He had the nerve to tell me to get rid of my bluish sidemarkers. He said he didn't like them and to take it off. If he sees me again with them he will give me a ticket. WHAT SHOULD I DO????? Is blue light illegal in NJ? Should I change it to white or is that illegal also? I was also thinking about taking a different way home from now on. I am so pissed right now. WTF, they had nothing else better to do then pull me over for my lights. To top everything off, the other cop said I had a very nice car and asked me if I did drugs. HOLY SHIT, just because I have a nice car, I sell drugs. I laughed in his face and told him I work with computers. He said that's why. I freakin hate them. How freakin racist was that comment? So one cop liked my car while the other cop hate my lights. But at least I got away with no ticket. But I am worry about the next time. Any suggestions???

yeah I think the reason why they pulled you over in the first place was the blue lights, this happened to me with my old car. Just change them to either white or orange, as a general rule for everyone here keep blue lights away from the front of your car and even on the sides too. This just gives cops a reason to pull you over, and that can lead to worse situations. Consider yourself lucky. UWgrad

let me tell you my story, one day i went to pick up my friend from school rite. I waited for my friend in the car at the front door of the freaking school. Then a police car came and that stupid Cop Knock my window and ask me for my driver license....
Ok then thats fine, I thought he is rite coz of school safety and security reason. All the sudden he gave me a ticket and say i trespassing....
Dang....I didn't even walk out the car and he say i trespassing....i was so pissed...
Afterward, i asked the cop what should i do next time when i pick up my friend...he said this " I ask you to leave right now...or else i will give you another ticket"
He said it 3 times man.......
that stupid ticket cost me 78$CDN.....
geez......what da hell is that cop thinking.....psycho.........

From a law enforcement perspective, I'm not sure about the side markers. If they are more blue than white, then it is a violation(at least under Florida Law). Sounds to me you were either profiled or at least stereotyped, neither of which activity I agree or subscribe too. A lot would be the time you were out till. Statistically proven that after 1:00 a.m., one of every 4 drivers on the road are illegally under the influence, scary huh.?. If they had given you a citation, I would have fought it, you must have PC to stop someone and it appears as though they did not, unless you consider you schweet ride...LOL

B, you were unlucky to get pulled over but lucked out getting NO ticket.
In NJ, you can't have blue lights. it's gotta be amber or orange. You decide which color you want to, but the cops will will give ticket at will with those lights.

I am surprised that he didn't say anything abut your tint.

Just change the bulbs. it's not that big of a deal. deninitely not worth the hassle.

Put it this way, when I was coming home in my older car via Verazano, this cop gave me 4 tickets. yup 4.
1 for blue headlight bulbs, 1 for clear corners, 1 for rear bumper, and 1 for reverse light. FVCKING @ss4h0les . they need to meet the quota and gave me 4 right there.

Not to diss on good cops but there are MANY @ssholes out there who enjoy pulling colored men. You know what, let them sip on their coffee and donuts all day and night and live same kind of the life they do now. U KNOW your life is better than is, and will only get better.

Well, I got pull over once for speeding... Not a big deal to me since there're ticket fighters out there. What really pissed me off was that he asked "how can you afford this car" WTF? The car is under my name, and I am the only driver on the insurance. Then he asked "do you live alone?" I said "yes"

F them..... you know what seriously... There are good cops out there and there are bad ones, too. That's the fact.

Perhaps that because of my age as well as that I am an asian, that forker was being very anal. But so? I don't care. Why? cuz I know that I got a better life and I enjoy my life more! Just think about the car you drive, the place you live...

Me = azn. and have tough time with cops cause they are just _____holes. I went to college got degree with few certifications and I can afford to buy the car I drive.
Why do cops not realize that there are many young professionals out there you make ok $$. WAKE UP. Don't pull anyone over if they didn't do anything.

I got pulled over this weekend for the first time too. Stupid car in front of me was going slow as hell on 1 lane road. There was a long 30+ car train moving below speep limit. He finally decides to turn right, I see no cars coming from the other side and slip half way over to the other side and go around. The second I do that, I see about 15 cars back 2 cops turn on their lights and give chase. Lucky me there were 2 cops, so they pulled me and the dude behind me over for crossing the double solid lines. I figured it cost some money ($70), but didn't know it was 1 point. Oh well, I just gotta hope the cop doesn't show up in court.

Aww man...I got a cop story to tell you guys too. I mean I have had good and bad experiences with cops. But I'm going to tell you a really bad one.

I was coming back from Lousiana in my car. I wasn't going any faster than other cars but he just happen to pull me over. It was just me and my friend coming back from Lake Charles casino. The cop ask us some usual question and for ID. But then he ask us if we had drugs, firearms, or large amount of cash. I was like...what the ****. I just came back from a casino...do you think I got a large amount of cash? Nope officer, we broke as shiet. So then he tells me to get out of the car and start asking me a bunch of questions while his partner was asking my friend a bunch of questions. Then they ask us if they could search our car. At that point I was getting a little worried, but I thought hell I got nothing in my car, go ahead and search. Luckily nothing was found, and our story match cause it was the truth. I was really afraid they might plant something in my car. He let us off with a warning and we drove the hell out of there.

Two or three weeks later I believe 20/20 was doing story on those corrupt cops who stop people for no reason, using racial profile. They were talking about that stretch of highway going from Lousiana to Texas that I was driving on. Aparently there were a lot of corruption going on there. They can cease your vehicle for just the slightest reason and keep it.

man, that sucks! I've only got pulled over once (knock on wood) Doing 62 in a 30. The cop was a total ass, and I didn't get a normal ticket...I got a court summon. Thanks to some strings getting pulled, I got out of that one. (phew) I've been careful from then on.

I'm from Jersey myself. Throughout the times I've gotten pulled over, I don't feel that cops participate in racial profiling in my area so much as "age profiling" - especially East Brunswick and South River. When I get pulled over, cops usually ask me whose car it is (Type S). Being a young kid, they usually don't believe me when I say it's mine. I feel like cops pull me over for stupid little things. As a matter of fact, I got pulled over for the factory high intensity bulbs. Like you all said though, it doesn't bother me. I can sleep well at night knowing that I don't have to make others lives' miserable to pay my own bills.

hey blackshadow, they are azzez! been there pulled over!, i was coming back from the movie theatres the one across the street from chilis is.. you know where im talkin bout...then i got pulled over because i was doin 55 in a 45 mph zone around panevinos, ok that sounds like justice right there, but you know what i hate 2 things the most 1)when you drive in an area you dont know that well, in the dark 2)when its a long street down it has a 25mph sign, then suddenly 40mph sign bout a 1/2 mile down, and then suddenly 30 mph sign after not even 1/4 mile down. sh!t thats evil.
the e.h. cops pull me over and blah blah, and he say what is your reason for speeding and i tell him im from upper part of jersey dont know my way around here!, he says hold on comes back and tells me here is a seat belt ticket, im like i had my seatbelt on, i took it off once you got here(honestly I BUCKLE UP)"you saw me take it off", he says "i would of ticketed you for the speeding if you want?" i nodded no then as soon as he hands me a ticket (this is another thing i really hate is when you get pulled over 2 or 3 more other cop cars come around just lighting up their lil sirens and makin all this comotions get out and assist their lil partner just to write a stoopid seatbelt ticket) a buddy of his had to join in the lil picking on the 19 yr old, walks right up tryin to give me more problems, hes like change those lights! i was thinking in my head i guess a 44 dollar ticket is not good enough for them.
all i can say is these punk cops can really make an innocent person look like a criminal!

Hey j83, finally someone knows what I am talking about with the EH cops. They have nothing else better to do then harrass innocent people.
BTW, I am going to take a different route home for a few days/weeks until things calm down or hopefully until they forget about me.

I feel you Black, some cops are just d!cks like that...I just recently got rolled on Sat. I had just come to my friends apartment complex to get some notes for our Sociology class and then all of a sudden I see a car pull up behind me and it happens to be a squad car. The two officers come out as I stepped out and ask how long I had been here...I say "I just got here, I'm just getting some notes for school." Then both the officers starts to walk around my car and try to look into it...thinking I got something to hide (Tints ). I asked him why there was a reason he was "looking" at my car and he said that they were just looking for someone. I gave him a "Alright $#@!@$#@!! a$$" look and just walked off on him making sure he heard me locking my car. Black, I suggest you don't take that way home anymore...Your car stands out a lot and don't think they're gonna forget your car (I know I wouldn't )

I really don't think blue is illegal for sidemarkers since sidemarkers aren't considered one of those lights you really "need." But change it just to make sure...I think it's illegal because blue=imitating a police officer and red=depends on what state you live in. I believe red/amber is legal here

haha yea man i got pulled over before too! once i was 8 over in a school zone. BULL ****! and then i got pulled over again for 10 over! wtf! yea at freakin 6:25 in the mornng too. You know what the prosecutor at court said? He said the cop probably pulled me over because I had no front license plate and I had a blue license plate light. I told him my car never came with one since that was the general excuse people use on this forum, but he was like it doesn't matter you need to get one from the dealer and also a front bracket. Man **** THE POLICE! yea im asian btw was racism or prejudice playing a role? yeah probably. do i give a ****? no! but anyways i wrecked my car pretty bad on friday night. I know, because a lot of my friends have nice, tricked out cars, and we get harrassed by cops a lot, because they know our cars now.

It won't really matter if you took different routes. At briefings, they probably mentioned your car, and they will be watching out for you.


Take it easy and give them no reason to pull you over.
