FINALLY!!! Dash mold and trunk flush panel DONE!!

Finally got it done... Kept putting it off and i was getting really tired of looking at a hole in my dash board and not to mention the plywood-built box in my trunk that kept sliding around... so finally the other day i dropped it off to get it taken care of and i was really suprised at the quality of work the guys did for the price, it was a $400 job for $150. Enjoy the pics!!!

PS. The headunit still needs a little adjustment, i have not got it perfect yet, but at least this way it will never interfere with the climate controls...

I wonder how well the PC will cope with the heat in the summer time being in the trunk?

Looks great. Watch out for bumps b/c a desktops harddrive doesn't have the same vibration dampening that a laptop has...

Put something soft to make the Computer move a bit so when you hit a bump it does not jolt. One sharp unexpected bump could break off the cpu cooler foundation tooth and bamm burned out cpu when the cooler falls off.

A Laptop dampering would be no safer as the drive head is still just as close to the platter when on. Some laptop drives can sense a fall and park the head ahead of time but no hardrive can detect a sharp bump or bang.

Vibration from the Sub should not effect the computers performance unless you are playing a DVD

The computer is a Celeron 600 with a big-ass Zalman fan on it, so it can operate under the warm conditions.

Yeah, the computer has been in the trunk now for about 3 months, and the 40GB drive has only a few bad sectors here and there, but i dont care cause i have hard drives laying around all over the place so if it crashes, no big deal ill just put another one in eheheheh

Amazingly enough, the drive is still very much alive, even though i have my Koni's turned up 3/4's of the way...

THE KEY IS VERTICAL MOUNTING OF THE DRIVE that way the head isnt so prone to bounce on the platter. This way, i only have to worry about vibrations from the sub causing issues. but like i said above, 3 months and only a few bad sectors on the drive.

Actually its a 10", but it might as well be a 12 since that W7 hits harder than anything ive heard (except a 13W7 of cource eheheh). But again, I was very worried about that, but here it is 3 months later, and that computer has no issues at all. and i play music VERY loud

If you get enough boom from a sub, say two 12W7's at maxx power, it would make the heads on that drive bounce on the platter like crazy... lucky im not obsessed with big boom...

Yeah when its closed it does not look right at all, but i was going to be god damned if i had some screen covering up my HVAC controls, and then again, i never close the fucker anyway so it all works out OK :P

I did not want the guy to put that button on the mold but he forgot and did it anyway, no biggie, i would prefer it not to be there....

damnnn bro that is sweet! pc AND ps2 eh?! major props.

going with that zalman is a great idea for passive cooling, although im not sure if that 600 celeron can process all your dvd watching needs... but i guess at such a low resolution makes up for lesser cpu power.

Well the PC does not have a DVD player in it... The KVT-911DVD head unit is a DVD player all by itself. THe computer has some B.S. CD-ROM right now which is getting swapped to a CDRW soon.

But even then a Cele 600 could do DVD playback no problem...

when that w7 hits them lows, i can see the puter freazing up a bit, and rocking that ps2. You should have gotten a small cube case, the one that looks a little bigger than a game cube. That would have been cooler for a pc.

No cube case. i wanted it obvious i jammed a computer in my trunk, and the larger case gives me better cooling options. all the guys tht spend $$$ on some super slim 1U or cube case can keep them... i can pull this machine out and pop the top in seconds. not to mention i had the case laying around, so why change it???

lol dude relax... i love it but if it were mine i would of done it differently.

the face plate of the headunit would be the first thing i would do differently. it looks like it has a vinyl cover or something.iwold of left at least an inch below the headunit and with the empty space above it, put like an acura emblem or something along those lines. when its closed, it looks weird. like an after thought.

as for the trunk setup... i like it. i would paint the computer case black or silver (to match the car ) and get the flush panel covered in black vinyl or leather or something in a nice black.

but then again, just cause thats they way I see it clean doesnt mean you have to see it the same way. but like i said, i still like it.

you going to the central florida meet?

lol sorry if i came off as defensive, i just was not sure what you meant.

Actually its funny, im going to be putting my acura badging behind the screen like you said, and i will probably replace the computer case with a black one so it blends a little better. I just thought you saw something wrong that i didnt see eheheheh

Yeah ill be at the meet, be damned if im going to miss that!!
