I finally went and bought the HIDS from hidextra. Quick question, i bought the d2r 5k and a 35w signature ballast for an acura tl. This is the one that I thought would be the closest to oem. The ballast is huge and pretty heavy.is this the correct kit for my car???
Do you mean the OE ballast is big and heavy- you are correct!
Some mount the new ballast directly on the old one- just leave OE in place
You will need 2 female connectors (per side) for the ballast power when you cut the OE leads off, can get an adapter
But its fine with waterproof or regular female spades and some waterproof shrink wrap tube around it.
size is 14/16 on the female spades
There are several DIY on this install, ck the diy section and search for hidextra install
Note new bulbs require 50 hours of use to get fully stable in color and brightness, they get better with use!
It's a 2003 TL 3.2......What is the ceramic shield? Also the website said d2r, what is a d2r bulb? What type of bulb do I have in the pic? Do I have to take the bumper off to replace the kit? With the pic that I posted, the wire that has the male pieces at the ends(comjng from the ballast) where do they get hooked up to or spliced? Thank you guys for the help....

Reason: Spelling
Our car has Reflective style HIDs which need a Ceramic Shield in the bulb to fight front glare in addition to the cap in the bulb inside the headlight.
Aftermarket lights like to sell the "D2C" bulb which is a hybrid between D2R and D2S so it fit both sockets, The issue is D2S works in Projectors only so it doesn't need the ceramic shield as our D2R.
