Finally bought a 02 TL
After almost a year of looking for a car, my parents finally decided to purchase one.
A 2002 TL non-navi in White Diamond Pearl. It was such a hassle finding this car because supposedly WDP is a very popular color and the TL base is a very popular car, so some dealers dont even have any, in any color while others have some, but no WDP. I called 10 different dealerships this weekend, and they all sing the same song: "Nope, no white, very hard color to find, we might have one coming in a few weeks".
Meanwhile, we really needed to make a purchase this weekend. So with all said and done, we found this car because someone ordered it and then decided to go for a type S instead, so this one was just sitting in the showroom, the only ONE TL this dealer had, I could not believe this, but thats the way it goes. Well, obviously the price is higher as well because of the demand and color preference, so we basically we got ripped off by paying 2k over invoice and the bastard dealer did not even want to throw in any accessories, however I talked him into mudguards, so wind deflector needs to be bought, oh well. It's a beautiful car, with 24 miles on it and DOM is 8/01. My parents really like it. And I am just pissed cause if they had made up their mind little ealier than at the last minute, then I would've had a whole summer to find one at a better price.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club. I have a 00 WDP and what the dealer told you about the color is true, at least it was when I bought mine. Apparently only 3% of all TL's produced are done so in WDP and, as such, most dealers command a premium when selling them. They wanted to charge me 1k over but I balked and we compromised at 500. Not bad to get the color I really wanted. BTW, where do you live and where did you buy in Philly. I'm a native now living the good life in FL. Go, Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and Sixers!

Is that 2K over invoice with the destination charge added?
I got my 02 WDP TL-S w/nav for 1.5K over invoice (dest added). And yes, they kept saying WDP is hard to find, there is only one in California, we won't cheap sell a WDP, etc.
It is a beautiful color though and I am glad I'm driving it.
I hope your parents have fun with it.

I own a '01 WDP and experienced the same thing. There were only two WDP w/NAVI in the Chicago area. One dealer quoted me $1,500 over INVOICE or ($1,500 under sticker). I got the other dealer to come down to $1K over invoice ($2K) under sticker. This all came down on a Monday night at 8:30pm.
You don't see many WDP TLs around. When the sun hits the paint a certain way, you can really see the pearl effect.
After four previous white cars, I swore I wanted a different color, but when I saw the WDP in a showroom. I was hooked, and I wasn't even shopping. I was getting an oil change on my old car.
I love it! Congrats!

'02 WDP
I got my 2002 WDP TL-P last week after waiting a couple of weeks for it to come in. When shopping I made it clear that only white with parchment would suit me. The sales guy had that look on his face that said "Picky women! Why is this never easy?" He too said that WDP was hard to come by (I am in KY), He said, though, that only 20% where white which initially sounds like a low number. But when you condiser the other colors available it figures out be about the right proportion and not so low after all. I kind of think it is a game.

Congrats on your (parents) purchase.
Your price is not bad. Many have paid much more. Enjoy the car!
As far as availability goes, my local dealer has NO TL's on the lot except a ABP S demo. However, there are about 10 WDP TL/TL-S shown in inventories around the state (accurate?). They do go fast though, I had to wait a week for mine to show up back in April. Any other color was immediately available.

I owned a gold 00TL two years ago and when I went to by the TL, I wanted the WDP TL-S, but none were available. A year later the dealer called me with one and you know it, I went and bought. Used the equity I made off the gold one for the DP. LOVE it !!!!!!
