Filling up your tank
When you fill up your tank, do you stop once the pump stops or do you try to fill it up to the brim?
Is it bad to top it up until you see the gas coming just above the little flap where the gas nozzle goes into?

what gas grade you guys put in your TLs? i just got a tL, time to put gas i dont know if putting the high grade gas is a waste or its necessary my friend told me hondas in general are picky on gas but i dont want to put something it doesnt demand seeing as gas prices are abit high

You shouldn't top off just because you could spill the gas all over the side of the car. Which is very bad for the clear coat. As for which grade octane to use, Do a search on this site and you will find this discuss over and over.

I use 93 octane all the time.

Loving my 08 TLS!
There were several occasions when the attendant overfilled my tank and it spill all over the place. You know I was b*tching the sh*t out of them and made them take back a dollar since it is on the floor.

I only fill it myself, because these attendant fockers lean on my car. I hate it when someone even puts a hand on the car. Leaning? Depending on my mood, you might get a hand chopped off.

In Michigan, most gas stations don't even have full service pumps anymore. All self-serve.

Over here in Kansas everything is Self Serve..
Why do you guys need a attendant?

NJ and Oregon both have this law. People have been trying to get rid of this law many time but it never pass because of the lazy asses who doesn't want to pump their own gas.

The reason for these laws was to prevent accident, these laws are like 50 yrs old when pumping gas was a hazard. With technology today, pumping gas is much safer. I personally think this law sucks because I'm a control freak and I rather do things myself then let some1 else touch my car.

oh and for people traveling to these states. No you don't have to tip them, most won't take it. Taxes on gas in these states are much lower so you don't see a higher cost in gas prices with the attendences.

Exacly. It is some law from the 1920's or something, but it really IS awesome, because you never have to get that gas smell on your hands or whatever the J.O. who pumped his gas before you had on his hands. Also, you stay dry in the rain and you get to sit in a nice warm/cool car in the freezing winter or 90 degree summers.
And the best thing is that Jersey Gas is way cheap. I travel all over the country and it is typically 10-20 cents cheaper per gallon. Just a few months ago, I filled up in Jersey @ $1.21 and was in Philly the next day and it was $1.43! I'll sit in my car, stay clean & comfy and save 15 cents a gallon anyday.

This winter was key, 5 degrees outside yet my fat ass staying warm in the car while the attendant has to freeze....only down side of Jersey with Full Service Only...is that sometimes the gas station gets crazy busy and ya have to wait for the guy to get to you. Usually not a big deal to get out and start it yourself, but gotta be careful because if the gas police are around, they can fine the station 5000 bucks for letting someone touch the pumps. I get gas about 2 - 3 times a week and use the same station basically, so its kinda conveniant, the attendants always come to me first, take my credit card and know that I always fill it up with super.....

Dunno...I kinda like the fact that they pump the gas for you in Jersey (is that officially a state? )...
Gas is definitely cheaper.
I live in good old NY and when I go to Jersey to shop (they have good malls there...) I usually try to get some cheap gas.
Jersey is nice...all depends on where you go. Around Meadowlands is kinda yukky...green grass turned grey with all the air pollution, factories, ghetto city...prefer Bergen area.
Anyways I don't have a problem either way. 90 degrees, 0 degrees...don't care...I'm not THAT lazy folks!

I live in Jersey and NOBODY puts gas in my car but me. I am 6'3 and weigh about 240. When I get out and just look at the guy with the pump his hand he hands it to me lol.

If you fill your own tank just quit when the pump shuts off the first time. No, you won't get that extra 6 miles worth of gas in it but it sure beats flooding the charcoal canister in the emmisions system and the car not running/starting. That can cost some serious bucks to have fixed and I dont' think the warranty would cover it.

Wow, I've topped off the tanks in every car I've owned, including my TL, and I never knew it led to any problems. I've never had a problem doing this in 31 300 miles with my TL. In the TL, I can pump another FULL gallon after the pump initially stops. The vapor barrier is not that large is it?

I topped off before too. But one trip killed my car. Wouldnt run after that. Took 19days to fix. Parts on back order according to the dealer. I round to the nearest nickel now.
PM if you want to know more. If I can find a scanner I could scanner my service invoice to prove it.
