Tow it to the shop and suck the tank dry. I hope she didn't start it.

How did that happen? I thought the diesel nozzles are bigger so that they don't fit in regular tanks?

Out of curiosity, I know Diesel engines run on compression and diesel fuel ignites from the high compression as opposed to a spark plug, so what will happen when that diesel fuel is used in the RSX engine and comes in contact with a spark plug? Will it react like normal fuel?

Diesel nozzles are larger and won't fit in a normal gas tank. Are you sure she used diesel? My best friend owns several service stations and it takes some real work (and damage to the car) to get one of those diesel nozzles to even get close to fitting in a regular tank.

It's much better to run diesel in a gas engine than gas in a diesel engine (serious preignition damage). Diesel is just a heavier fraction from crude than gas and is also sometimes called #2 fuel oil.

It will burn but not very completely and thus smokes alot and could carbon things up a bit.

But if they drain the tank before she got too far she's probably OK.

LOL - Find out how she screwed up so bad

How did she do that . Is she sure she put in diesel or does she think she put in diesel. I would explain to her that the nozzle is larger and it takes work to pump it in a regular opening.

drain the tank...take out the spark plugs...and turn over the engine serveral times to dry it out. Let it air out a bit. Then put the spark plugs back in and keep turning over the engine until it starts and the grey smoke disappears!!

Someone did this to my car..and this procedure worked for me.

After filling the tank up she drove about a mile and a half and the car stalled and she tired to start it 5 times..the car is at the acura dealer right now. They are gonna drain the tank, clean the lines new spark plugs clean the ingectors and ever other part that has to do with fuel. I thought the Diesal nozzle was bigger to but I went by the station today and tired to put the nozzle in my TL but I jsut looked at it instead and its just a little bit bigger than the gas nozzle.

the opening on the RSX is pretty wide and then narrows down kinda like our TL's so I guess she didnt shove the nozzle down much.

my mom did that to her camry, she didnt know what diesal was (lack of english skills), and back then the diesal cost more, so she figured get the best gas she could, it stalled on the freeway and she had it towed to a shop[, they fixed it for like (drain and clean ) 200 or somehting, no more probelm ever since.

Its probably similar to having sugar in your gas tank, my friends camaro just had that done to him a week or two ago and its still in the shop getting flushed out. They have to take the whole block apart i think.

Ok just got word from acura. They said this car is really easy to clean up its only $187 plus tax. The servcie tech said it was gonna be around 400 to 500 dollars casue they had a new civic and a accord owner do the same thing. They said the rsx has a really easy set up and everything is well and running. If we get Diesal in the TL just make sure u have +400 to waste.
