A few newbie questions...
hey
im new to the board, this is my first time posting. i have a 2000 silver TL. i have a few questions that i'd like to get cleared up.
1. how many speakers are in the car and how powerful are they (watts)? im guessing its 4 speakers and a sub? 200 watts? thats what im thinking but i don't know if im right.
2. are the HIDs on the car real? i've been to some boards and some people say that the TL xenons are fake emulations of real HIDs? i always thought the TL HIDs were real...who's right?
3. are the 2000 TL stock tires V-rated?
4. at what rpm does the VTEC engage at?
5. is the audio system in the TL-S different from the TL?
6. are all the speakers bose? or is it only the sub?
thx

READ THE MANUAL!!!!!
Now for the questions. I'm not an expert and I don't have a manual in front of me but here's what i think:
1. 4 speakers and a sub is right. Watts i don't know.
2. Fake? never heard that before.
3. Don't know have a 2002
4. 5000 I think
5. pretty sure there the same
6. They are all Bose

Stock tires are V-rated
All the speakers are Bose. It's four speakers (in the doors) and the sub. Don't know the wattage.
Interesting note. My wife's Pathfinder as a 6 speaker Bose system WITHOUT the SUB and in my opinion it blows away the system in the TL hands down. It sounds cleaner and crisper.
I believe that the system in the '02 is pretty much the same as the '99-'01 versions with the only difference being the in-dash 6 disc changer in the '02s.
I believe I read that VTEC engages around 4300 - 4500 RPM
As for the HIDS, I believe they are real. All the independent literature I've read is that the TL has Xenon High Intensity Discharge lights. It is not just the blue covered bulbs that you can buy at PEP Boys. Must be a reason why they are getting stolen left and right (no pun intended) on the east coast.
Hope this helps.

Have you driven your TL lately? Of course the HID's are real...drive another car without HIDs..look at the difference...fake HID bulbs can't replicate this kind of lighting, no way...

that v-tec engagement doesnt make much sense. if that was the case then when you changed gears you would drop below v-tec engagement. an integra gs-r's v-tec engagement happens at 4400 rpm's and that car has an 8100 rpm redline. also.....my v-tec engagement is set at 3600 rpm with my v-afc and when you set it any higher than 4000 you feel a pronounced "push" when v-tech engages. stock v-tec can barely be felt at all ( in fact i never noticed it until i got cai ). i believe the stock v-tec engagement point to be closer 3600-3700. thats just what makes sense to me.

First the VTEC on the TL engages at 4400 rpms.
5 speaker BOSE (4 doors...1 sub)
The HIDs are true HIDs....what people are saying is that they aren't as bright as European ones because those are channelled through a projector bulb rather than a normal headlight set up like ours.
Finally, the tires are V-rated to ensure safety.

It was deleted in the '94 Vigors.
I don't remember what was in the Legends, but that's a different car altogether.

Change your whole stereo system. From what I know, if you want to increase the wattage, you can't do it on stock. You have to take out the factory system and put a whole new system including head unit, amps, speakers and subs. I think you may be able to use factory head unit if you have RCA converter but you will not have clean sound. You will have lots of distortion because you are converting high input to RCA (low input).
I would just go buy a new aftermarket head unit with RCA jacks. This will make you sound much more cleaners than coverting your factory head unit. Also your factory speakers can not handle 300 watt out put.
I hope this helps.
What does one need to do to increase it to 300watts?

I'll just have to stick to stock.

of course our hid's are real.. that is why when we turn them on it takes a second for them to start up cause they have to ignite so to speak.. and the light starts out blue then gets white after 2 or 3 seconds... what kinda question is that?
