Last night I hit 80 in second gear at 7000 RPM. Whats the fastest speed youve gotten up to in that gear?

 

Make that when I shifted into 3rd I was at 80

 

2nd gear i ever gone was 100 MPH.............READLINE!!!

I believe its an F1 car or a super fast bike.

Tell me it wasn't on your TL...U might have bent valves.

 

probably like 75mph in my TL. Never noticed the 2nd gear's max speed in any other car.

 

if i floor it from a stop I go into third around 65mph, I think that is fast enough in our cars.

Hmmm i didn't know that we can go that fast in 2nd gear....


I thought the fastest we can go is about 62mph or about 105 km/hr in 2nd gear.

Atleast most average cars do that.

 

I thought it was right around 70mph if you take it to around 7100-7200, yes you can do this you just have to know how to time the delay in the shift without redlining it. I just may have to check this at lunch time though, but I never remember it being 80.

 

58-60 mph in 02 TL-S just right before redline..

well i have went 80 on 2 gear at 80mph in my 03 tl-s i think u need to try ur car out again

 

I went to just about 80mph in 2nd gear too maybe a little less. Well to be perfectly honest, I look more at what's in front of me with the occasional glance at the tach so nevermind about the 80mph.

 

I also went 80 on second in my TL-P scared the shit out of me

 

yeah, my 99 can max out 80 in second.. and keeps pulling in 3rd ;] i <3 vtec

damn one of these day u guys are gonna blow ur engine becuz i for one only tryed it once and my car was basically wanting to shift to third at 80MPH and it was jerking the car like crazy

 

99 has only 4 speeds so we have a more spread out shifting ratio giving us a good advantage. on 2nd i do pretty close to 80.. maybe 75ish? and then at 3rd gear we can pull between 110-120. after that.. 4th gear is a drag. haha

 

i think i did around 75.

 

60mph +/- 3mph in my 2000

 

 

on my 99tl .. 1st about .. 72km/h (45mph) 2nd 120km/h (75mph) and 3nd 200km/h (125mph) 4nd never tested over 235km/h (146mph)
in ss mode of course

03 TLS - 7k rpms 2nd gear = ~68mph

 

I thought you're suppose to watch the road when you're droppin' the hammer....All I know is that 2nd and 3rd gear still spook me a little bit when I get on it......1st shifts too quickly...bah.

 

i just tested it today lol i hit the rev limiter at 75 in second gear but my egr is clogged and i need an oil change .....not only that but my speedo might be off by 2 or 3 miles due to the needle popping off when i installed gauges

 

Yeah i think i got up to 58 or 60mph...80mph no way.

but how can you "stay" in 1st gear when using ss mode?
If i m right, the transmission will shift from 1st to 2nd automatically when using ss mode.

 

on the 99tl the first gear in SS mode doesnt shift automatically. its all manual SS shifting for us 99'ers.

 

on TL 60+ on 2nd gear... didn't want to hit redline... (heard weird sound when I hit Redline on S2000 so didn't want to take chance)
