Fast and Furious
i just saw the fast and the furious, and i had a few questions. why were there no "high quality" cars in the movie, such as BMW or Porche for example, only decked out honda and mazda and toyotas? is there a reason for these "racing" cars?
Those cars are in Gone in Sixty Seconds. Are you trying to say that Japanese are not "high quality"?

no what i am trying to say is this, compared to what many people think as "high quality" cars or "racing" cars why are toyota's and honda' that usualy cost 15K or so chosen to be tricked out to race instead of what are built to be fast cars like the porche for instance?
They are trying to appeal to the crowd who actually race with these cars. Bimmers and other European imports are generally not viewed as cars you drag race, and if so, not done illegally. Face it, the average person who doesn't know much about the racing scene only really has exposure to it on TV and media, sometimes they see these "Riced" out cars on the street and associate this with racing.. the movie plays on this perception..
Seems also that the illegal late night street racing started in Japan - or at least that is what the general idea is.. Cars from Japan are suited to reinforce that idea..
There sure is a big hype for this movie, I may end up going to see it.. just not anytime soon..
Its funny how all the advertisements I've seen for this have a disclaimer at the end of them.. "the stunts performed are done by trained professionals..."
But why do I get the feeling that within a month, we'll all be hearing about some dumbass trying to take his lowered civic under a semi and causing a 30 car pileup?

ok i just was not sure if these cars were actually suited better for racing or they were used for sterotypical reasons. are honda's and such easy to do mods to also? ive heard that they are "the most customizible" cars you could own.
