Post Is this a fair deal (sorry for the newbie question)

It's a 96 3.2tl with 90k on it. It has many of the goodies (I don't know what's standard on the Tl) leather, cd... I had it checked out by a mechanic and he said it was in great shape. The only thing was that there was some noise coming from the rear of the car. My mechanic thought it may be a wheel bearing, so the dealership is replacing both rear wheel bearings. I've got them down to 13k OTD. The car also has tinted windows and a remote starter system. Has American Racing rims too. Whaddya think??

not too bad but damn, 90K miles is a lot for a 1996...i have only around 49K on my '96. i checked www.kbb.com and it goes for around $14,970 so if you like it, then go for it.

How do you know it's a 3.2?

it will say "3.2 TL" on the back of the car. plus, looking under the hood would give it away

According to edmunds after mileage adjustment, the car is worth 12.7k for private party sellers to 14.2k for a dealer for the base 3.2TL. The premium 3.2TL is worth more, but I dont know if that car is the premium version as I dont know how the premium version is different than the regular sedan. Sorry i dont know too much about the 1st gen TL.

Good luck with the car though

Exactly, make sure you have a V6 and not an inline 5. I asked because I see alot of cars being rebadged into something they are not and an unsuspecting buyer will rely on the badge alone. Also check VIN for history. Don't want to buy a previously totaled car only to be brought back to life by a backyard mechanic.

Thanks for the replies... It's defenitely the 3.2. I test drove a 2.5 but I thought it was a piece of shitza, at least this one was! The dealer ran a carfax for me and it turned up ok. It was a lease vehicle. I'm thinking maybe it was used as a commercial vehicle, hence the high milage. That doesn't explain the rims and remote starter system tho... HMmmmm. Any more thoughts?

I got a 97 2.5 with 35K on it for 15,500. I looked and looked for a 3.2, but I'm cool with what I got, 13,000 sounds allright, but it is at that time that you are going to have to shell out some more cash for more maintenance, mainly the timing belt. Hopefully that 90K is mostly highway miles. BTW, when I compared the premium to the non, all I could tell was that the premium had leather seats. Another good thing, the 98's and down were exclusively made in Japan. Read into that what you will. Good luck!

thats funny, my 2.5 has leather seats too. how can the 3.2 non-premium not have leather seats standard? there is no premium and non-premium for the 3.2 trim line i believe... there were only 2.5 and 3.2, plus optional equipment but thats about it.
