Extreme makeover: Acura TL edition
This is what happens to your car when it sits in a college parking lot under a tree for months.
This is the result of hours of washing, claying, polishing, and waxing. On top of it all some new paint for the B-pillars.
Overall I am happy with the results. I think the car looks great for an 8 year old car. The paint I used for the B-pillars was bad paint, you could just tell by the way it came out. However, I needed them back on to drive, so I decided to live with them for now even if they didnt come out that great. I did return the paint and got new paint for when I get a chance to repaint them. I think its a huge improvement and glad I took the time to do it.
Also as of 05/19 at around 1 PM my car hit 100k. I did get a pic but its on my phone and I am not sure how to get it off. My engine is finnally broken in.

Poor TL, it drives me nuts when the car gets dirty during the week going to and from work, and sitting. I don't know how I would deal with that?? You did a great job on bringing her back to life. Car looks great. Did you use a UDM?

Thanks for the compliments. I really didnt want it to get this dirty but in college I didnt have much of a choice. As a freshmen they give you a parking lot that is very far away from the dorm, and under a bunch of trees. I basically hadnt been home in a long time so I didnt get a chance to wash it. Anyway its all better now.
Chris what does UDM stand for?

Hum, nice job. My black TL needs to wax too. It's on my "To Do" list for quite a while but I'm too busy and havent accomplish it since.
What brand did you use actually?

Also since you also have a black TL I should warn you it stays clean for about an hour after you wash it till it gets dirty again.

Want to do mine for me?
I have the same car and agree that it stays clean for about five minutes which is when you can start seeing the dust on it.

Holy thread bump. Thanks for the compliment man. Have you ever been to NC state campus? The car was parked in the storage lot because last year I was a freshmen. It was a long walk away and parked under a lot of trees.
However this year its nice and close to me.

Claying is basically this bar you buy that you put to the surface of the car. You just rub the car down and it picks up tons of dirty and stuff. It comes with directions. As far as the B pillars I wasnt too happy with the way they came out but I just sanded them down and used plastic paint spray paint.

I got new taillights and I didn't want to make a new thread so I figured I would post them here.
Before.
It gets really dirty under the lights.
In process.
Final product.
Overall I am incredibly pleased with the results. The car looks almost new. I had been searching for a long time for a good deal, and I finally found some in the BM for $75. They are Depo instead of OEM but you would never know the difference. Also these lights were designed for the 99-01 so you did not have to get new wiring harnesses. Everything was just plug and play. The only downside is that now I have to order my amber 7440 bulbs online since no local shop seems to carry them in stock.
Anyway I am happy and would defiantly recommend this to all 99-01 owners.
