Exterior B Pillar Finish

I have seen this topic discussed over and over again. The finish on the exterior B Pillars gets a spiderweb effect and then starts to peel.

I am experiencing the same problem on my 2000 TL and would like to either refinish myself or take it to a bodyshop for repair.

In all the posts, I am unable to find any usefull information regarding the removal of these exterior B Pillar pieces.

Does anyone have instructions for the removal and reinstallation of these?

The trim is held on by 2 screws; 1 on top and on one th bottom. You need to remove the inner door trim to access the screws. Pretty simple stuff that doesn't warrant a DIY.

I was at the dealer today and spoke to some one at the parts counter.

They can order the replacement trim pieces. The replacements have a different part number than the originals. He states that there shouldn't be a finish problem on the replacement parts.

He also gave me a copy of some instructions that were on a service bulletin regarding the replacement procedure. It's bulletin 04-033.

It looks like one screw on the top that comes in from the back (interior). And three more screws that come in from the side (behind the 'glass run channel').
