Extended Warranty Purchase?
Hello all,
I plan on purchasing a TL Type S today and was wondering if you had to get the extended warranty at the time of purchase?
Or would I be able to get it later on down the road before the factory warranty expires?
Just curious, thanks!

You can buy it later. I am planning to get mine in about a year, when my mileage is close to 48K, unless I get a new car. Also, it is worth it to check around for prices - when you get a new car, that is when they rape you the most with extended warranty price.

in my opinion don't get a TL with out the warranty, that way when the tranny blows up (which it will) you are not hoping your in warranty or that acura will fix hopefully for free. The car has design flaws and if you decide the looks and performance is worth the troubles associated with the car then get the 100k mile warranty. IMHO tell the dealer you'll walk if they don't though it in.

The reason it costs less when the car is new is because the company figures there is less chance of something major breaking and if it does, the factory warranty will cover it and most likely they will never have to pay to replace it again. Which means they can invest your money for the first 3-4 years and make money off of it before they ever pay out a dime for you. If you buy it just before your factory warranty runs out, they can't do that with your money so they charge you more. Plus, any breakdowns at that point in the life of the car are now going to be their responsibility, not the factory so it costs them more. It's like any insurance policy: the longer you wait, the more it costs. Try buying life insurance at age 25 and see what it costs and then at age 60 and see what it costs. The more likely you are to use insurance, the more it costs.
