Post Exhaust installed - thoughts & pics

Click on the pics for high res versions!

Got it installed - very easy to do. Looks great!

<A HREF="http://planetstarsiege.com/havoc/images/exhaust.jpg" TARGET=_blank> </A>

It sounds great too! The car has a lot more bass while outside the car opposed to the silence of stock.

Inside you can't hardly hear it while your foot isn't on the gas. If your foot is on the gas it is a deep buzzing sound... kind of ruins the quiet luxury stock has... but since I drive with the music on 99% of the time I won't ever notice.

The intake is much louder than the exhaust, however the intake only makes noise when you stomp the gas while the exhaust is always making noise, though only a small amount. Sounds great when you start her up!

While I'm here, check out my lug nuts. Can't wait to put them on the Alstadt IVs!!!

And my 2002 TL Type S vent trim. I think I'm the first to mod an "older" TL with 2002 parts! (had these for a week) Yippy skippy!

Back to the Comptech exhaust... the only thing I don't like about it is that it isn't flush with my rear bumper. Is this possible? I have the factory kit and the exhaust is about 3 inches from being flush. =Z Would look much nicer. Is there any way to fix this?

Yeah mine is flush with my body kit. Its pretty simple to do. Just take it to the muffler shop and ask them to extend it out. It looks much better.

Question

Very nice Nate. I thought that the TL-S had the "bowling ball" trim? Or do they come in wood too? Or is that a regular '02 TL trim. Please let me know - I like.

My Comptechs stick out a little too. Do you have the under-body kit?

Nope, no mesh yet. Saving up for it.

So what exactly are they going to do to make my exhaust flush? How much should it cost?

The TL-S comes in both "bowling ball" and "fake wood". Ebony has to come in bowling ball! How stupid is that.

Yep, I have the kit... problem is that it doesn't stick out enough!

Oops, my bad

Maybe a shop could bend the stock pipes a little to make the exhausts come out more? But will that affect performance?

Question

as for the lugnuts, is that a good idea to put the aftermarket ones on your stock rims??? i know the stock lug opening are rounded out to match the rounded lugnuts, but aftermarket lugs have a tapered (ie, acorn) end to them which better matches the openings on the altstadts.

Hehe... ok, ok, you caught me on the lug nuts... I just put them in the stock rims to be clowning. Looked kinda cool though. I only hooked up one rim for the pic and took them out becasue I didn't want them to get dirty in the rain (not to mention stolen heh). They'd be a ***** to clean! I'll probably only rock them during the summer and at shows and things. Too easily stolen. =Z

Hell yea! The exhaust kicks ass!

I made 2 pics of each, one thumb and one high res. Uploaded them to my site, then used the UBB tag [img] to post the images and the UBB tag [URL] around the images to make them links. You can specify an URL like this: [URL=http://www.yahoo.com] Then whatever you have between that and the end URL tag will take you to yahoo.

Yo Nate...

Nice pics!! I especially like the vent trim. Did you buy those peices seperatly or were they part of a whole kit?

Thanks! I got the pieces seperately for $40. Kinda steep... but they are just like the Inspire trim that I never got, so I had to have them.
