Ever get water in trunk?

I had to dig out the spare and there was water in the trunk well. Sponged it all out and after a rain, more water. The carpet doesn't appear wet and the gasket looks really good - soft, pliable and no holes or tears. Anyone else have this happen and how did you remedy? It has to be leaking in from somewhere - I suspect at the back of the trunk lid ahead of the rear window. Can the trunk lid closure be adjusted to put more pressure on the gasket???

It's most likely the tail light gaskets. You can check this by opening the trunk and pouring a gallon of water on the back window. The water will divert around the trunk opening and you can inspect the trunk and see where the water is getting in. It may take a few minutes for any water to show, but it will likely weep water from near the tail lights. Also look for corrosion on tail light bolts/nuts as evidence of where the water is coming from.

I will check that - thanks!

I'd agree on the tail light gaskets. You can get new ones from the dealer, or I've had success using a bead of clear silicone like you would use for sealing windows

I would check the taillights. I had this happen on another car and it was the gasket for the light.

Does the bumper have to come off to get the light assemblies out and replace the gaskets? Likewise, can you just caulk on top where the light housing material meets the metal trunk?

No, you just unscrew them from inside the trunk.

Thx. On some Acura models, rear bumper has to come off because the designers put two screws on tabs below the bumper. Good to know these come right out.

Yeah the 3G TL rear bumper is like that. Rear bumper has to come off to remove the tail lights

That happened to mine, I took out the lights and and ran a bead of silicone around both gaskets. Haven't had a leak since and its been several months
