Ever get compliments on your TL in strange places?

Going to work today, I work in mid-town Manhattan and there was traffic I guess in preparation for the lighting of the Christmas tree. So I am on this block waiting for the intersection to clear and this guy comes up to me and is like I don’t mean to bother you but what year is your car? I roll down my window and tell him it’s a 2002 he is like sweet I love this car man and saying he likes the way the kit looks and on and on... it was kind of weird just for the fact they guy was just looking at my car in the middle of the street and a taxi cab is about to hit him and they honking at him trying to catch the light since the intersection cleared up lol
It made my morning especially being late to work. I figured I'd share this since our cars are about 5-8 years old and people still come up and giving compliments on our cars. Any of your people get compliments on your TL’s in I guess strange ways or places?

People usually don't believe that my '96 is a '96. They are like wow it looks like it is a '99 and people get it confused with a Lexus or a Maxima.

that's when i ask their girlfriends if they have ever felt leather seats, or even better, heated ones. and then you play some nice slow romance on your bomb ass stereo that a 450 awhp talon just wouldnt have

haha he had 2 alpne 12" subs with other shit, I am not very familiar with it but he got robbed while his car was in the shop. so he got money from that and put some more shit into his engine. and his gf is so dumb and ugly I would never even imagine to let he in my car, let alone put some slow romance for her haha.

I get compliments by people my age a lot and I get stares from older women who think my car is new. . One time I was sitting in a parking lot and some lady in her 40's just kept staring over from her SUV and smiling at me. Some of my friends hate the NGM color though...

LOL ! you guys are too much .... the 2G TL has a better curve than the 3G IMHO ... not sure what the 4G will look like ... but the 3G is a bit too square-ishy for me (even though I don't mind the extra HP & those tech gadgets )..

I've gotten a few compliments in odd places. I was at a party one night sober as a judge (DD) while 2 of my friends were hammered off their asses, so I had to take them home before they got too out of control...well I go out and pull my car in front of the party and while I was waiting for them, 2 guys walked over and talked some car stuff with me, then out of no where 5 girls walked over...I was liking that ratio

Last random one I can remember, myself and KSuchdeve were over at our dealership to try and find out what part I had just lost under my hood and we both got a few compliments from someone just hanging around and then from one of the service reps

I parked beside an Integra (not in the best condition) at school, I reversed in so these 2 girls were staring at me and my car, they said "nice car, dude" then I said thanks. And as I was walking towards the school, I said her teg was nice also, so giggled and said "yeah right".

haha yea Chris, yea it helped out that the car was just washed

I didnt forget about the mats I will try to meet up with you one of these weekends before it starts to snow...

Have any of you with the lip kits noticed that you get a lot of stares from people who have TL's with out the kit? There always the older crowd and you come to a stop at a light or something. You glance over and they are looking at the kit nodding their head (no offense to anyone who doesnt have one)

After a wedding while waiting for my car at valet, I had an older lady come up to me and ask what kind of car is that. She was in her 50's and kept saying, that's a beautiful car. Then when her car pulled up through valet I was like, it's the same car as yours! She had a white TL-P 2002/03. She didn't believe me for some reason.

Strange places:

1) Costco parking lot in a city 100 miles from my house -- older folks liked my rims (Volks) and the color (even though it was covered in bug guts on the front)

2) BMW dealership -- salesperson liked what I did to my Acura (re: JDM badging, mods)

3) Infiniti dealership -- salesguy does a double-take when I went to test drive a '03 G35 coupe when it came out

4) lately -- various high school kids, soccer moms at the grocery store, bank parking lot ... seems no one around here has seen a modified 4 door without a STi spoiler on it before

Guess I am very particular with my car (ie Zaino)... even though it's approaching 7 years in age ... it still looks pretty good.

I've gotten some weird ones...at a stop light when I was stationed in Texas, an older guy pulled up next to me in his newer(don't know what year) F-250 and rolled down his window to say "Nice car, very classy." I was pretty surprised. I've also gotten compliments at gas stations and places like that. I also hear the "WOW, it's an 02? That paint looks awesome!"

wish someone would compliment my paint. seems like the previous owner parked the car next to forest fires and watch the acid rain drop on it

I get stares when I tell people I drive a '99 with just a hair over 70k miles. Bought it used in Jan '05 with 40k. Previous owner babied the hell out of the car, hand washed only, had every oil change and tire rotation in the manual.

As far as compliments, yeah, elementary school parking lot. by a 7 year old kid. I had to explain to him how it was dangerous to talk to strangers as I stuffed him the trunk.

j/k

I was parked next to a brand new Buick Lucerne while getting my DINO CASTROL at WALLY MART>All of a sudden I noticed the BEAUTIFUL GM Orange Peel Paint job on the Lucerne. It had to be the worst paint job on a new car I have seen in a long time.
My 99 TL-P that just turned 9 years old, has a great paint job (shiny and smooth=not a flaw). Seeing the Lucerne made me realize how well our cars are painted.
I kept waiting to see who would buy a car that had a paint job on it that looked as bad as this one did, but no one showed up. I drove off realizing that I should be happy with what I have and not unhappy with what I don't have!

I get it once and a while... The girlfriend’s family had a chance to see it for the first time for thanksgiving and I got several compliments. When we left, I received several more for the LED's under the door handles.
It really is nice to hear that now and then.
I'll have to clean it up some for the Christmas holiday now.

On another occasion I received a parking ticket, but it almost made it better when I noticed that the officer wrote that it was a 2007 Acura. (Plus it was only ten bucks)

1. I get it a few times. I was driving to maryland one day and this guy in a modded Honda accord coupe was tailgating me. So I slowed down, pulled in the next lane and he pulled up beside be and asked me to take my window down. I did and he said Nice ride and kept it moving. Im not gonna lie my head got big for a min, cuz his car was modded pretty nice and I'm just lowered w/Oem type- s joints w/oem kit.

2. I get double takes sometimes when I'm at supermarket parking lots or Mall parking lots. Many people ask me what year the car is and when I say 99 they look very surprised. I keep my car always washed and waxed. I think the 02/03 conv helps also.
