Engine start button?

Did anyone think about doing an engine start button? A friend was going to try it and I was looking at some diagrams and it doesnt look to hard.

I am not sure if most of the other engine start buttons require you to crank AND push or it is just leave the key in the ON position and then push to start. Does anyone know?

The S2000 button is about $40 and then a relay and some connectors would just be a total of $50 in parts.

On the S2000, you just turn the key to the "ON" position and then press the start button. No need to "crank" with the key, the start button does it for you.

If you dont have to crank the car then all the acc items like the radio will stay on while the car is starting.

Ok thanks. Do you like that button or it gets annoying after a while? What happens if your radio is on, does the it shut off when you push the button to start the car?

The button is "cool" at first, and its part of the S2000 experience so to speak ... its great when learning manual because its easier to restart the car when you stall out, but overall it isn't that big of a deal either way. If it had a turn key like most cars it would make no difference to me. Some people seem to think its really cool when they look at the car though ... :dontknow:

When you push the start button it cranks the car just like when you turn the key to crank the car... So all your accessories turn off, although I don't think the digital gauges turn off for my tachometer / speedometer.

I can just imagine seeing someone doing that.....you hear the gas... the car "chirps" and then stalls... starts up again... "chirp"...Stall .. start... chirp.. stall... lololol.. espically on a new s2000....lol

It would be cool if the button was hidden, within reach, and the car would only turn on with the button ( turning the key foward wouldn't start the car). I think that would involve a little too much screwin' around with the ignition..
