engine shake question

engine shake question
Got a 99 tl automatic 4 speed transmission, problem is when I put it in reverse, I hear a big clunk and the engine shakes vibrantly for like 3 seconds. only happens when I put it in reverse or sometimes drive then I can drive normally. I don't know what's making that clunk noise. Any ideas why the engine would shake? bad rear motor mount?

thats the sign of a bad rear motor mount, i had a big thud when i would shift into reverse. after replacing the rear mount it went away.
also check out the front and side mounts as well, they may get worn faster since the rear is probably shot.
there is a DIY on how to change the rear mount out, but i can tell you from experience its not fun.
Ingalls makes an engine tq damper which has pretty much solved my motor mount issues, basically stopped all mount movement once set properly.

if a rear mount is gone, definetly ck front and passenger side--front is usually first to go then the others follow from extra load

damn I was thinking it would be the rear mount. I'm going to look for the diy if anyone can post the direct link that would be great. Thanks! my first time working with hydraulic mounts.

hey guys just an update so I did diagnose with the vacuum gauge, exactly like shown in this picture and when I raised the rpm the gauge went down to zero. It says in alldata to replace the solenoid. What you guys think? cause at idle I get 20.25hg and when raised to rpm goes to zero. The solenoid is $46 I have it ordered through dealer should be here tomm. But even when I disconnect the solenoid during Drive still doesn't make any difference.
