Engine Lamp, TCS light??? Whats going on?

I went to get my car checked out by Acura last week, and they felt I needed a new transmission. Today I finally got the car back, and after starting the car several times, the engine light and TCS light decided to stay on rather than going off like normal.
What do you guys think is the problem? They said there was no problem with my car before I got the car back from them.

My 99TL did that last week. I brought it to the dealer and they said it was with the ERG Kit??? Turned out to be clogged, they installed a new ERG kit (WHICH IS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, ACURA EXTENDED THIS WARRANTY FOR 80K MILES).. But i was reading previous posts on the board and some did say that was the beginning of a Transmission problem. My understanding is that when the engine and TCS lights come on together, it is with the Emissions control.. ERG kit should be your first check.. OH, if you recently filled up your gas tank, MAKE SURE YOUR GAS CAP IS ALL THE WAY ON -- three clicks should do the trick and drive for about 2- 3 days and see if the lights go off.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

This happened to me about 3 weeks ago. It was a bad Oxygen sensor... although I'm still confused of why the damn TCS came on. Usually its just the check engine light. Cost was 250 give or take a little. Although it was deemed accident related for me, and I didn't pay a dime for it.

Went to the dealer today, and they got a fault code for "fuel running too lean" the mechanic said that all he did was replace a pressure hose or something and the light is now gone. Plaza Acura in Brooklyn has really good customer service, didn't charge me anything even though I have no warranty.

Silver, I've seen you today at the Plaza.

I have the same warning lights as you going on, but I need to replace my fuel regulator and the powertrain module as they told me at the Acura Plaza

900 bux.

we'll do it next week.

That would be EGR which stands for Exhaust gas recirculation. My '99 gave me the same TCS/Check engine light show two months ago and it required a "1 A 06175-P8C-A01 KIT, EGR". My guess is that the kit consists of the valve and a new gasket.

The work was done at no charge.

My transmission is fine.

Tell me some of the symptoms you have experienced with the tranny, maybe I have the same problem, maybe Im just not noticing.

When I told them about the EGR, they said that mine was fine as well. I've tried everything to get it under warranty didnt workl.

when I brought my car in to check the transmission, it was shifting into 3rd gear a little bit hard to the point where I feel like I'm getting thrown back into the seat.

Talking They almost got me

I haven't posted in a while, or even visited the site, but I am glad I did. My engine light and the TCS light came on a few days ago, car seemed fine (99 tl) checked the lid to the gas tank, tight. So I gave it a few days, didn't go away. Brought it into Acura today, get a call back, 489.00 for the EGR work and fuel injection cleaning. So, I did a search to find out some more info, saw the 80K warranty, called up the dealer to ask why this wasn't getting done for free. Service manager said, "of course it's covered, why someone told you it wasn't?" The other guy I talked to was just too lazy to run my Vin to see I was covered. So, getting the work done right now free of charge! Thanks to the info it acura-tl, I not paying almost 500 for this.
