I always thought the fan was thermostatically controlled and will remain on as long as the coolant is above a certain temp, whether the car is on or off.

It's normal. Reason is when you shut off your car, your engine is still hot and since it's not getting cool air circulated into the engine, your fan should turn on for a bit..and should turn off when your engine gets cooler.

Check your coolant. Antifreeze lines are taken off when a trans is removed...if the tech didnt top it back off...your car may be running a lil warmer thus causing your fans to run afteryou shut it off.

Its normal. The fan NEVER ever stayed on though for my '88 Accord and Civic, maybe they never got hot enough.

Older honda and acuras were notorious for forever running fans. They all shared the common component...Fan timer control unit...the usual culprit. Now fan controls are integrated into the PCM. Maybe when you had your trans put in they installed a new PCM. It is part of the tranny replacement. If the PCM has different parameters for fan control...this maybe this is where your deviation lies.
