emergency brakes

ok this might be a stupid question but when the car is in neutral and you apply the emergency brakes would that be able to keep the car from moving? im asking because i parked on a hill and tested the brakes i put it in neutral and applied the emergency brakes and the car began to move. Is this normal or should i get it checked out? my other car would stay put or resist and if i tried to move in drive with the emergency brake in place.

Did you press the pedal all the way down? If your car is moving with the emergency brakes set, it could be just the pedal needing readjustment or your drums for the emergency brakes are shot.

I've had to get mine adjusted twice now. Seems to be a pretty simple fix for the dealer.

When you think about it, people tell you to apply the parking brake when your on a hill, in case your tranny pops out of Park. Well if you ebrake isnt holding the car from moving, you can kiss it byebye. So I would definately get it checked.
