Emergency Brake...

Has anyone ever forgotten to turn off the emergency (foot) brake after parking the car for quite a while and drive with it on? How much of a damage will that do to our emergency brake? I've done that a few times, and I am afraid that it might cause some long-term damage.

I dont know about you but when i apply it, i press it so hard that i cant drive with it on. it does it no good if you can still drive relatively easy with it on. the whole purpose is to keep your car from rockin on the tranny when you put it in park and let off the brake. i press mine all the way to the floor, everytime i put it in park, and my dern tranny still went. but tahts a different story. i would imagine that you'd burn something up, but it probably depends on duration of your ride.

all your doing is wearing the rear pads and rotor, which only do about 30% of the stopping. = if you havent warped your rear rotors then youll be fine just may need to replace rear pads a bit earlier.

i did that once, second day i owned my car, i took it to the dealer for free oil change n stuff, and after i picked my car up i didnt realize they had applied the e brake, i was still gettin familiar with the inside so i had no clue, i drove bout 3-4min and realized the ride was odd, than i saw the (!) type thingy on the dash and corrected it, never again have i done that, i never ever used my e brake on any of my cars, never had 2 i guess, i would think if u do it alot it mite cause some damage, once maybe twice is fine.

i havent done that but my gf called me and said "Eddie your car is strange it feels harded to drive." I was scared and asked "is the e brake on?" she said "no i dont see it, does it have one?" me " yes its near the floor" her "oh im sorry i took it to work like that and now im going to your house now" she will never touch my car again and my rotors are worpped i dont know if it was caused by that but my car is still in the shop. Tranny and brakes and other stuff were going wrong with it.
