EGR port help

So this weekend I decided to clean my EGR port (to boost my mileage)
and silly me I forgot to get the spray carb cleaner.
I was under the impression that i would just scrub it off with like a flat head screwdriver or a metal brush or something. Obviously this did not work as well as i thought.
Is there anything else around the house that i can use to clean my EGR port?

you knocked stuff loose, didnt get it out, and freaked out a sensor

do an ecu reset by pulling the CLOCK fuse on passenger end of dash
See if they come back

deep creep/seafoam, solvent, carb cleaner all work well to liquify the carbon
Neighbors often have a can!!
get 3 cans to do a good job

Pulling a CLOCK fuse?
wouldn't that be by the fuse box on the drivers side door sill?
I thought disconnecting the black cord on the battery for like 15 Mins reset the ECU?

It's the passenger fuse box. On the panel, it will say something like "Clock backup" and be labelled with a 7.5 fuse. Just yank it out for a minute, and put it back in.

You could pull the neg battery cable too, but then you will need your radio/navi codes.

labeled CLOCK its also the secret backup power for the ECU
open passenger front door and look at end of dashboard- remove fusebox cover-
note location of clock fuse on diagram and remove with the provided tool

when you disconnect the NEG or black battery cable you have to input the radio security code and sometimes redo seat or other presets

with the fuse method you do none of that!! and it takes less than 1 minute of fuse removed time
as far as we know: it clears the ecu instantly on loss of power,, but leave it out 1 minute to be sure
works every time!!

gabru: many things you thought,, dont apply to the TL
It has some trick systems you need to understand

everyone needs to register with acura care, its free and can download an online owner manual for your car
http://owners.acura.com/registration...istration.aspx

also reg at acura care and ask if all recalls are taken care of
the airbag inflator one keeps adding more VINs to the list of covered cars needed to get fixed call 1 800 382 2238x5,,both those need the cars VIN

thanks i got my radio working again and have registered with them and learned that my trans was replaced in '05
about the airbag the lady i talked to told me that unless i have small children sitting upfront (as a college student i hopefully never have this issue anytime soon)
ALSO: i found out that if you hold 1&6 on your presets and THEN turn the power on the serial codes are displayed, so i didnt need to have to dig in and tear apart my car

radio: certain years are that way- you lucked out
register with owners.acura.com and store the codes there- safe and free

airbag- you are part of the recall or you are not!! (keep cking as the vin list keeps growing)
my understanding is its driver side inflator speed is too fast
Maybe where she's from,,, they let kids ride on your lap!! (was Britney Spears working?)

did they say trans replaced or recall taken care of?
its not very often the 800 has info on replacement!
look at your trans from above- see the bolt heads with blue paint everywhere?
yes=waranty replaced trans
no blue paint on bolt heads and oil jet kit on top of trans= OE unit with recall installed part in place

some trans were changed under warranty at recall inspection due to heat problems found

Yea, I saw the blue bolts, didn't really see them before
and yea the lady i talked to said if there weren't those bolts then they would just have installed a jet to fix 2nd gear.

Question - I have red paint on the ATF bold, not blue. The transmission was replaced under the recall around 2005. Is there any significance to the red color or were they just out of blue paint?

where exactly is the red paint--on the refill bolt, top center of trans?

Blue paint is found on the bolt heads of bolts that go thru the trans and several that hold brackets to the trans are blue as well

blue means acura warranty replacement unit

are you certain it was replaced at the recall ??
(if certain heat damage was found they did replace many then)
OR
just had the oil jet kit installed in the filler hole-top center of trans
THAT WAS THE ACTUAL RECALL
