ECU year

Quick question. would a ECU off a 2003 TL work with a 2000?
Basically I need an ECU ASAP and theres one located really close, but its off an 03 and i have a 2000.

Heres the ad: http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-01-ACURA-TL-ENGINE-ECM-ELEC-CONT-UNIT-ECU-LOWER-CTR-DASH-3-2L-FED-/181121147422?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a2ba9621e&vxp=mtr
I'm actually kinda confused now, after rereading it. it says is fits an 01-03 CL and fits in an 00-01 TL?? Why would an ECU fit two different models?

Ya never really know what you're buying from fleabay.

Try getting a reconditioned and guaranteed ECU from a site specializing in these units. Otherwise, check locally for an ECU from the correct year and model, unless you can find out for sure, if they are interchangeable.

To answer your question, yes an 03 unit will fit a 00. Even if it is a Type-S, it'll work. Although keep in mind both VTEC and your redline are higher on a type S so your revlimiter won't kick in until you've already reached redline.

I know this because before I did a type S swap, my A/c was not working. We diagnosed left and right wtf is causing the compressor to not kick in. A tech at honda said it was my ECU that's not grounding the connection and they wanted $1400 to replace. No thanks, but I already happened to be gathering parts for my swap so I already had a type S ECU, threw it in there and everything worked fine, no CEL or anything and the A/C worked. I'll say it again, be careful with the redline.

As far as this particular part, it lists all models that contain the j32a1 (base) engine except one, it says 03 CL Type S which contains the j32a2. Not to mention, the part number 37820-PJE-A64 does not exist.

Try car-part.com, it'll list all the parts junk yards have and it'll show you the most expensive parts on the front page. I'm sure you can find an ECU for $50-75

Not necessary, and ebay itself isn't bad, just gotta know who is selling it. The sellers in OP's link looks like an autorecycling place, but they don't have their shit right. Just gotta do your research on both the seller and the part.

Wait, now I'm confused. would this exact ecu work in my 2000 tl?

the reason i'm looking at this one is because its only 10 miles from my house. I'm definitely still looking around though....

I'm assuming yes, but the part number that they have listed on the auction does not exist. Maybe it's a typo because the ECU in the 03 CL-P is 37820-PJE-A65 or 37820-PJE-L65. Either way, both cars have the same drivetrain, so in theory it should work.

I called them and told them that I looked up the part number and I couldn't find anything so They looked it up and said I was crazy because it does exist....haha what is going on...

Well anyways the part number to my ecu is:
37820-P8E-305
1647-501119

Which this number didn't match theirs so they said it wouldn't work...and now I'm kinda confused. I don't know who to listen to.

I'd look elsewhere. It's not like shipping would take forever or cost an arm and a leg.
