DVD NAVI vs. CD NAVI

I know the DVD navi is better but why and how is it better?

I'm considering the GLE (CD navi) and the TLS (DVD navi).
255hp vs. 260hp, I also know the TLS is like 0.5-0.8sec faster
from 0-60mph. But there are future tranny issues to consider,
you know. 4sp vs. 5sp.

Thanks.

The DVD holds more information, 7.9GB versus the CD which only holds 700MB. More detail on the DVD.

Also, the DVD version is easier to upgrade. Just swap the disc at the dealer and you're done.

DVD nav covers the whole US on one disk while the CD nav covers certain areas only (like 8 CDs for the whole US). I don't know how the maxima CD nav is but I am assuming it is the same.

BTW, in 1999 the nav is based on a HDD. While 00+ all comes in a DVD format.

Hi,

Just information from Japan.
My Saber 2002 has DVD-Navi and it covers all over the Japan.
In addition to that HONDA Japan has a Wesite that helps the DVD-Navi user to plan a route of driving using memory cards.

On the Website I can find out the infornmation of a particular location where I am going to on my laptop and I store the information in a memory card.
In the Website, most of the locations can be found through giving telephone numbers.
DVD-Navi also can do that but the infromation on the Website is much more and latest.

I take out the memory card from my laptop and put it in one of two card slots of my DVD-Navi located in trunk room.
On the Navi screen "Hyper Icon" catagory appears as the information from the memory card and I can use the information as same sa the one I could get from the Navi.

For most of famous resort ares, HONDA Website provides a brief description and a picture of the area and they are also stored in the menory card automatically.
They also appear on my Navi screen.
