Angry DRL (Daytime Running Lights)

(Daytime Running Lights)
Just saw the 2003 TL. To tell you the truth it was quite disappointing. No noticeable change that I could see. I was hoping that Acura would at least add DRL. They have them on the cars sold in Canada why not in the US? I think they are a safety feature plus you can get a discount on your Insurance bill. I had hoped that Acura would also add a compass to the rear view mirror on non nav cars. Both of these items are relativally inexpensive and I think Acura should give these two items some consideration for the 2004 models.

The TL won't get them until every other Honda car does.
This is one off Hondas flaws they could at least have this as an option on the U.S. models.

The only real reason we have DRL in Canada, is because the Government makes it manditory for auto manufacturers to have them on our cars. In the USA, they are not manditory. Its funny, in our area we get a lot of cars from Michigan or New York, and they stand out because they don't have this feature.

Smile DRL

DRL (Daytime Running Lights) are not headlights. They are not meant to be for lighting purposes. They are meant for safety purposes, so an oncoming vehicle can see them.

DRL's are a waste of battery power, IMO....if I need to turn my lights on, I can do it myself.

But you can't just turn the high beam on w/o lower beam, though. :p

Please do a search for "DRL". I'll bet you dollars to donuts that anything you're going to say has already been said.

I agree that DRLs are intended for safety and not illumination. Their primary benefit is to make you more visible to other drivers during daylight hours. It sounds odd but it really does work.

They are dimmer than low-beam headlamps and use far less power. Battery drain is not an issue.

I think DRLs on cars make them look tacky. Everytime i take my fathers '00 tahoe i manually override the DRL and turn them off because it looks horrible. I would personally think of that as a negative point towards to car....make me wanna :yack:

But DRL is a good safety future, there are some idiots on the road that you just need to give them some extra attention for them to notice you...
