what kind of shingle? shake (cedar or other hard wood) or composite (rubbery stuff sprayed on a cardboard). I imagined that they wont be much damage from a shingle. Next time have the technican look under the car when you go for an oil change

Go under the car (be careful, could be done without lifting car) and examine for any dent under the car. If there's scrape paint, it's better to touch up or spray it with under carriage coating, that will ensure rust won't develope easily. Just my opinion.

thanks

thanks all...but is anything really painted under there anyway? i hope that cars in general, especially acuras, are designed to take some wear and tear (i.e., stuff rolling/rattling by underneath)

I noticed out TL doesn't have the old tar coating anymore for anti-rust, it's just paint. When you crawl down there, all you see is smooth belly. Comparing to my other 3 Honda (90's model) They all have that rough black tar coating un der the car. I guess Honda wants to save weight on the car as it's already pretty heavy.
