Depends on the RPM and time she was in D3. If it was for a short time in RPMs under 4, you should be fine. If it wasn't redline the whole time its all good. The second gear in our cars can get up to 60 mph.

Don't worry about it....... It just burn more gas and that's about it..... Oh, and of course more wear on your engine, but I don't think that's a really big deal...

or 3rd gear can go up to 100mph, so if she was driving below 70mph, then there shouldn't be too much problem.... But if she redline the engine for like 1 or 2 hours, then it would be bad....

Yeah, if she didn't go too fast and have it on high rpms, then it should be ok.
I was on the freeway in 4th last weekend and went up to about 80. Felt strange with no power, and I looked down and I had somehow gotten into 4th, changed up to 5th and boned out. Don't think it was damaged though.. I hope.

Just curious, how did you find out that she drove in D3??

well, on a '99 with a 4 speed, 3rd gear is over at about 115-120mph, and that's before you hit redline....I highly doubt she was driving that fast, nothing to worry about!

You think that's bad. I let my sister boOrrow my car once and she had no idea about sprt shift. So she shifted down and over into SS thinking that was Drive. She called me up from the HIGHWAY and said something was wrong with the car because it was bucking. I was like "HOLY $HIT". However, I think she did shift to Second, but accidentally. MY POOR BABY!

When my mom first drove my car, she accidentally put the car in SS, and she drove the whole way home in First gear! She came to me complaining that my car makes a lot of noise, and every time she lets go of the gas, the car starts slowing down! I peek over to see where the shifter is, and sure enough it was in SS..

What is the moral to this story? Don't lend your car to your stupid sisters or clueless mothers. Sorry fellow female enthusiasts here. I can picture my wife doing the same thing!

Well..... but not every single female thought.... My friends girl friend drive a Golf 1.8 5 speed the first time I met her. Now, she got an Eagle Talon with heavy mods. Standard shift again. Her car is so badass that people won't even look at her again after a glance. (she doesn't like that, and never meant to be cocky at all)!

But when you see a pretty cute girl driving a car like that. You got 2 kinds of feeling

1. she is driving her bf or bro's car

2. she might not belong to a gang but her bf or bro kinda does.

BTW she is the REAL rice killer, loves to kill civics and her car might hang with C5 vette. Havn't proven at the drapstrip yet, but I think it's possible with her mods. btw, that's HER car, her bf drives a Prelude.

You can say that again. I think folks have a tendency to shift over to SS because they think it locks the shifter into D5 or something. But you should talk to my sales guy who told me on the night I drove off the lot with my new TL that D4 was to be used for normal driving. Good thing some of us either read the owner's manual or know something about cars. DA

The 3rd gear of the 2000+ TL can go upto about 100mph.....so if your sister has not been above such speeds, you have nothing to worry about....
