I guess i am not alone. It's not too big of a concern for me as my car sits in garages all day and night long. Looking forward to a solution nonetheless
Burning Brakes
I fixed mine a few months ago. If you know how to use a soldering iron or have crimp connectors it's an easy repair.
There are two tabs on the rear of the mirror, one is hot, the other ground. The connectors rot over time. I cut off the connector and soldered the wire directly to the tab. Coat the connection with some silicone or something when you're done to prevent this from happening again in the future.
The mirrors pop out easily with a padded screwdriver.
fyi - The mirror and the heating element are bonded together; I believe it's a single item.

Mirror is a replaceable part. Will cost you about $35 at the dealer.
