Driver door not grounding!!

So as of lately my driver side door does not lock or unlock with the fob, i have to manually open the door with the key.

My courtesy light on my driver side door does not work either but every other door works and my dome light will only turn on when any other door opens besides the driver door.

Once i open my driver side door the car will not ground out and cut the power but if i open any other door then the car will ground off.

Now my main question is, does a faulty / broken actuator cause my driver side door to be like this? or im i facing something worst?

I popped open the driver side panel and check all the connectors and check to see is all of the arms were connected and everything look in place. The actuator does not make any noise or mechanical sounds.

Please let me know thanks everyone!!

Take the door switch out in the drivers door jamb and check for continuity, it is what tells the car that the door is closed.

Does the power lock lock from the switch with the door closed?

With the door close it will not lock unless I press the lock lever down and then press the lock on the fob and then the car will arm

And it won't unlock either with the fob I have to manually insert key and turn.

I went and check the switch to my driver side door jamb and i realize if that switch was not working wouldnt my dome light be on forever? but i have to replace that now becuase i broke it ......

but i did some reserch on cars with similair problems and this 2004 accord had the same problem i did and their fix was the multiplex unit? they replace the whole unit and the dome light and courtesy light on the driver door works now. So now im wondering is that really the issue becuase that unit is expensive...

Hey ProjectAcuraTL, The problem appears to be the door switch as Fsttyms1 earlier advised checking.
Let us know the outcome !

Okay, so I went and check the door jamb switch one more time but this time i open it apart and examined it and it looks like the copper wire inside the switch was so worn down there was no contact what so ever. Because when I check the switch with a multi meter it showed continuity. So now I know I have to replace that.

As for the power locks that issue would be the actuator correct?

Thanks for helping me guys I appreciate it

While you have the door jamb's switch removed, you may want to do a quick test.
Bypass or jump the switch to see if everything works as normal.

Well i don't necessarily know how to jump or bypass the switch but what i did do was took the cooper wire that was inside the switch and had it touch both of the metals and next thing you know it the dome light and courtesy light turns on and my car was beeping for the key notification.

I have to replace it now due to the fact that i accidentally broke the clip that holds both housing together... haha

Quick question: has this happen to you before? or is this a common problem with the TL?

do you have to open your door with the key? and locking it by pressing the lock lever down?

well i did a lot of research and it came out that most of the people fixed this problem by replacing the actuator. i guess honda and acura has a common issue with that lock actuator going out with the mechanical inside. the part runs about 35 - 50 bucks new
