For racing, a DW is preferred because it tends to keep the wheel geometry in the preferred position relative to the road.
For practical purposes on the street, it is less an advantage if any at all - it is more expensive to implement. I think this is as much a marketing ploy as anything else - and it seems to work (witness your post).
There are many roads to enlightenment - Hell, Corvettes used hirse and buggy leaf-type springs for years, and the BMW M3's have used struts in the front forever.
