I am looking into making some custom aluminum door lock knobs but I cannot find the correct thread size. I took the plastic one to HomeDepot for fit test and it appears to be 8-32. But the aluminum one I made w/ 8-32 cannot goes into the threaded rod. Can someone help me out here? Thanks in advance.

 

its nice that you are trying to customize, but for 4 bux you can get a nice set at any autostore.

I tried autozone and pepboy but all I can find is the skinny one. Ours are a lot bigger in diameter.

 

did u get the tap with correct pitch? and r u sure it's not a metric size instead? i;m suprised its a 8/32.

 

i have fitted perfectly already a bunch of different knobs that i bought at autozone or strauss without a problem.
