dom unit install help

Im tryin to finish up the install and i followed the directions and the DIY by DaveRubino. but im have a few issues. maybe its error on my part because i didnt ground the wires well enough. does the dom unit need to be on for the nav to work? I thought the switch needs to be in the off position for the nav to turn on. my navi turns on when the switch on the dom unit is in the on position and the picture is extremely wavy, maybe due to a bad ground. idk whats goin on anymore. the only other thing i can think of that i might have done wrong is, the directions says cut all the wires in the beginning and i only cut the wires that need to be spliced. there are 2 wires that are untouched. are those supposed to be cut and left cut?

someone with expirience please help

I know you have to cut 4 wires total.

Also that switch is mainly for back an forth to Navi /TV an Dom unit also stay ON.
It can be a bad ground wire. I had that problem.
