Does no mudguards = rock chips?

I have a 1999 Acura TL and was wondering if anyone WITHOUT body kit took off their mud guards and if they experienced any rock chipping below front doors or anything?? And with response what kinda area do u live in? THANKS!

I took mine off afterowning it for about 10 months, and wish Ihad removed it 10 months prior. I have a '02 WDP TLS, and there are scars from where the mudgaurds were. That was in Feb, I think. I have not found any chips, marks, or anything since I've removed them. In fact, I hardly get much mud or anything kicking up on the car. I live in Washington STATE. Also, my sister's driveway is gravel.
I hope I can buff out the marks from the mud gaurds...

took mine off right after i got the car, so no marks thank god.

none since either, i live in jersey. but i plan on getting the kit soon, so removing them was a necessity.

Would removing the flaps on a '99 with nearly 50k reveal scars on the paint?

I haven't considered doing it because I'm either in the midwest or in western NY all year round.

you will definitely have scratches... so unless ur willing to pay a body shopt to paint it for u... or u can touch it up yourself... leave them on and paint them the same color as your car.

If you dont use them you run the very rare risk of getting chips. They are mainly there for when it rains, you wont get a bunch of splash from the tires on the fenders. If you put them on you can guarantee the gaurds will scar the paint finish.

Paint the mudflaps the same color of the car is something I haven't considered. Has anyone does this, does it look good?

It looks very good, but the paint wil eventually chip. I had a body shop do mine about a year ago and have some slight chipping now.

yeah, even prepped mudgaurds have problems with paint sticking. Acura uses mudgaurds that flex, not ones that are hard
